Would you watch a Dexter: New Blood spinoff? The show, revived from Showtime’s hit 2006 series Dexter, was a massive hit for the network, becoming its most-watched show in history. It focused on Dexter Morgan in the years after faking his death, finding him in Upstate New York, under the assumed name Jim Lindsay. He had a normal life with a new job and a girlfriend, but his world was turned upside down by the secrets of his past.

While Dexter: New Blood concludes his story, fans are wondering about a possible continuation with Harrison Morgan. But not everyone is open to the idea.

‘Dexter: New Blood’ fans share their thoughts on the idea of a Harrison spinoff

Despite the success of Dexter: New Blood, many viewers consider the finale disappointing. The show followed Dexter as he reunited with Harrison, the son he left behind in the original series finale, who was starting to display his own troubling behavior. Dexter decided to teach him the code, just like Harry Morgan did with him, to control his violent urges. But after discovering the extent of Dexter’s past, Harrison shot and killed him and fled town.

While the finale was met with much vitriol from viewers who were enraged that Dexter was brought back just to be killed off, there’s still a question of whether Harrison’s story will continue.

Reacting to Reddit poll gauging interest in a Harrison spinoff, most voters said no.

“[Watch] to see a record breaking THIRD awful ending? Please no,” read one comment.

“Harrison is dead to me,” said another post.

Others indicated they would watch a Harrison spinoff as long as the storyline was right.

“I voted no. But if they age him up, and he becomes a straight vigilante. I could see myself watching it,” one fan wrote.

“Yes just give me more dexter like show from the same showrunner,” a different fan agreed. “Make a dexter origin story for all I care just give me more please.”

The creator and showrunner of ‘Dexter: New Blood’ previously addressed the possibility of a spinoff

Speaking about the possibility of a spinoff, Clyde Phillips, the creator and showrunner of Dexter: New Blood, revealed he’s open to the idea.

“This show is a huge asset,” he told Deadline when asked about a potential continuation of the show. “When people start bingeing this after the finale, I’m confident the numbers will continue to go up. It’s up to Showtime to make the call to me if they want more. If they ask me if I’d like to make a continuation of this, I would say yes. I have a lot of things going on but I would drop everything for this and say yes in one second.”

Phillips signaled interest in a show featuring Harrison after the shooting death of his father. But he reiterated that it would be up to Showtime to make the call.

Could Michael C. Hall return as Harrison’s conscience?

After the finale, some fans wondered whether Dexter would ever come back, perhaps as Harrison’s conscience. It doesn’t appear that Hall has addressed the question, but Dexter: New Blood director Marcos Siega shut it down.

“That won’t happen. I can put that to bed right now,” Siega told the BingetownTV podcast of the possibility, explaining that Hall allegedly feels satisfied with the revival. Representatives for Hall did not return our past requests for comment on Siega’s remarks.

We’ll see whether a spinoff ever happens. In the meantime, stream Dexter: New Blood now on Showtime.
