‘Dexter: New Blood’ Fans Think Angela Is in Danger — But Not Because of Dexter
With the way Dexter: New Blood is going, it seems like Angela Bishop is about to blow the Bay Harbour Butcher case wide open (finally). This means she’s a threat to Dexter Morgan. But some viewers fear that she’ll end up in the crosshairs of someone else before she can expose him.
Dexter’s secrets are slowly coming out in ‘Dexter: New Blood’
When Dexter: New Blood started, Dexter had gone almost a decade without killing. He had a normal life under the name Jim Lindsay with a job and a girlfriend, police chief Angela Bishop. But chaos began when he slipped and killed criminal Matt Caldwell, who was responsible for a deadly boating accident. While Dexter was ultimately able to cover up his involvement in Matt’s death, his past is still dredged up by a series of events.
According to Julia Jones, who plays the police chief, Angela was involved with Dexter for years without knowing his true identity. She was only tipped off after randomly bumping into Angel Batista at a police conference, where he made cryptic comments that left her questioning Dexter.
Her suspicions rose the more she heard and learned about Dexter and eventually led to Angela finding a link between him and the Bay Harbour Butcher.
Why ‘Dexter: New Blood’ fans are concerned for Angela
A lot of fans think Dexter will kill Angela to protect his secret, but a theory shared on Reddit says Harrison will do it to cover for his father.
“Harrison has finally made a connection with his father, he no longer feels alone in the world, and they share the bond of having the dark passenger. Angela stands to expose Dexter as the Bay Harbor Butcher, thus potentially severing their newfound bond,” reads the theory. “Harrison finds out how much Angela knows about Dexter and him being the Butcher, and cannot risk his dad getting arrested, so he uses Audrey to get close to Angela, then kills her.”
“Ooooh good theory! I think you may be right,” one fan wrote in response to the idea.
“Sh** this is one I had never thought of, great fan theory, would be shocking and heartbreaking. Harrison kills Angela to save Dexter, just like Deb had to do to Laguerta,” another comment read in part.
While many considered it plausible, they also hoped Harrison wouldn’t go that route.
“i hope harrison gets treatment for his violent urges and becomes a normal kid instead of cold blooded killer like his dad,” one fan said. “because at the end of the day harrison doesn’t strike as a psychopath he has shown to be a very emotional person and somewhat has a hero complex and wanting to do good or protect the weak.”
There were also other ideas, like Kurt killing Angela as revenge and Angela letting Dexter off the hook as long as he killed Kurt. Some certainly seem more far-fetched than others, but if we’ve learned anything about this show, it’s to never say never, because anything can happen.
