Fans are full of anticipation for the Dexter revival. Titled Dexter: New Blood, the series takes place a decade after the titular killer fled Miami for a solitary life in the woods. Although it doesn’t premiere for another few months, Showtime has been keeping viewers entertained with teaser photos and videos. See the latest image, here.

What is the ‘Dexter’ revival about exactly?

In the Dexter series finale, we watched the character fake his death and move to Oregon. But the show won’t start from there. Jumping 10 years into the future, the revival reveals Dexter has moved again — this time to Upstate New York, where he’s living under the name Jim Lindsay. Teaser images suggest he’s no longer killing, but showrunner Clyde Phillips has said Dexter’s dark passenger will resurface.

“Dexter always has what we call ‘the dark passenger’ living inside him,” he said in an interview with TV Insider. “He is more grounded than he’s ever been, but that dark passenger is a voice he cannot deny.”

The big bad of the season is Kurt Caldwell, played by Clancy Brown. Per TVLine, Caldwell is a community figure who owns the local truck stop. “Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people,” his character description reads in part. “If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”

The cast of the Dexter revival also includes Jamie Chung (Lovecraft Country), Julia Jones (Westworld), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird), Alano Miller (Underground), and Oscar Wahlberg (NOS4A2), among others.

Showtime has teased the show with a new image

With the days winding down until the premiere of Dexter: New Blood, Showtime has started to release teasers and promotional images for the revival. The latest shows Dexter checking himself out in a mirror with “You’re Beautiful” written on it in colorful ink. “Monday morning affirmations,” reads the caption.

Those new to the show might not find the post all that eye-catching, but it might stick out to longtime fans. Could that be an indication of Dexter’s acceptance of his new self and his comfortability with his current life? Or maybe those words are just a mantra he uses to suppress his dark side? It really makes you wonder.

What we do know is that the revival will end in a way that is “stunning, shocking, surprising, unexpected,” according to Phillips. “And without jinxing anything, I will say that the ending of this new season that we’re doing will blow up the internet,” he added at Comic-Con 2021.

So when does the ‘Dexter’ revival air?

Production on the revival officially wrapped in July. The show is seemingly now in the editing stage and will premiere on Showtime on Sunday, Nov. 7. Get ready.
