‘Dexter: New Blood’: Who’s the Other Serial Killer? It Might’ve Already Been Revealed
There’s a killer on the loose in Dexter: New Blood, and it’s not Dexter Morgan — at least, not in the case of those missing women. The mystery villain was shown in Dexter: New Blood Episode 2, as they surveilled a new subject. But it was too hard to make out who it is. As viewers dissect those scenes and debate the person’s identity, let’s discuss what we know about that person so far.

There’s a missing persons problem in ‘Dexter: New Blood’
The revival premiered on Nov. 7 and begins almost 10 years after Dexter faked his death. After fleeing to the Oregon wilderness, he made his way to the fictional small town of Iron Lake, New York, where he assumed the name Jim Lindsay. Dexter went the entire time without killing, but he gives in to his dark passenger after learning local hotshot Matt Caldwell killed five people and got away with it.
The investigation into Matt’s death coincides with the disappearances of multiple women. The second episode of Dexter: New Blood reveals that yet another woman has gone missing, adding to what will probably be a growing list of victims. She wakes up to find herself in some room, being watched via camera by a mysterious figure. Viewers can see parts of the person’s face as they peer into the lens, but you can’t tell exactly who it is.
Who is the kidnapper?
Fans will find out in due time who that person is, but a report might have already revealed the answer. Variety hinted in a November article that it’s Kurt Caldwell, the “unofficial mayor” of Iron Lake, who also happens to be Matt’s father.
“He’s realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop,” his character description reads, per Deadline. “Powerful, generous, loved by everyone – he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for… God help you.”
Variety added that Kurt is “a very privileged man with a lot of pull in the small fictional town of Iron Lake, N.Y., who uses technology to spy on women before more fully victimizing them.”
That sounds like a clear answer regarding the identity of the kidnapper. We’ll have to wait and see how Dexter responds. But one thing for sure is that he’s met his match, considering that Kurt will “hurt anyone that he cares for.”

Dexter: New Blood airs at 9 p.m. ET Sundays on Showtime. Fans also have the option of watching it earlier, at midnight Sundays on the Showtime app, but only with a Showtime subscription.
The network has not said whether Dexter will continue after these 10 episodes, but Michael C. Hall, who plays the killer, hasn’t ruled out the possibility of another season.
“I’m reluctant to say ‘definitely’, you know?” he told NME when asked if the series will “definitely” end after New Blood. “Let’s see. What’s plain now is that there’s 10 new episodes.”
