‘Dexter: New Blood’ Season 2?: Michael C. Hall on if He Would Return
Dexter: New Blood brought back America’s favorite serial killer years after Dexter originally ended. Fans are loving the revival and calling for more and more seasons of the series. However, Dexter: New Blood is a limited series, and so far there is nothing to confirm that there will be a season 2. When star Michael C. Hall was asked if he would return for a possible season 2, the actor was coy as ever. Still, his answer could give fans a little hope.
‘Dexter: New Blood’ brought back Michael C. Hall
Many years ago Hall became synonymous with Dexter Morgan. The actor took a deep dive into the mind of a serial killer, playing Dexter for nearly a decade. Now Hall is back for the revival. Dexter was off the air for quite some time, but in interviews, Hall has stated that returning for Dexter: New Blood wasn’t as difficult as one might think.
“It’s a crazy proposition, returning to a character after almost a decade,” Hall told Showtime. “It’s like discovering that this person that you thought you’d put away, he’s been there all along, off somewhere having his dream and you just turn the cameras back on.”
Hall on whether he would return for ‘Dexter: New Blood’ Season 2
The cast and crew of Dexter: New Blood have been incredibly secretive about how the revival will end. Everyone, including executive producer Scott Reynolds, has been careful not to confirm or deny the existence of season 2. In an interview with Jonatan Blomberg, Hall was no different in his response.
“I’m gonna take it one step at a time and let this see the light of day before I consider that question again but um… maybe,” the actor responded coyly. Although the interviewer even asked if Hall would be willing to return in any form (whether a ghost-like character like Deb or alive) Hall wasn’t giving anything away.
Fans think Dexter will die in the revival
It looks like fans won’t get a straight answer about the possibility of Dexter: New Blood Season 2 until the first season has concluded. There’s probably a good reason for this. In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Clyde Phillips teased how the revival will end.
“It’s going to be surprising, inevitable and it’s going to blow up the Internet. It is, I personally think, the best thing I’ve written,” he told the outlet. The end of Dexter: New Blood will definitely be shocking. Some fans believe that all the secrecy hints toward Dexter meeting his end.
“I know they’re supposed to play coy when asked questions about the ending but by the way [Hall’s] always saying he doesn’t want to spoil anything by giving a definitive answer on whether or not there will be more seasons just seems to me to feel like he’s definitely dead,” a fan wrote on Reddit.
Other fans have agreed, proposing all manner of ways Dexter could die. A popular theory exists that Harrison will kill Dexter in the end. However, the only way to find out for sure is to watch the revival to the end.
New episodes of Dexter: New Blood air Sundays at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
