Arthur Mitchell, also known as the Trinity Killer (John Lithgow), made his return to Dexter Morgan’s (Michael C. Hall) world in Dexter: New Blood Episode 7, “Skin of Her Teeth.” Find out what fans of the Showtime series thought of seeing Lithgow as a serial killer again. Trinity returns in Episode 7 ‘Skin of Her Teeth’

Trinity first appeared in Dexter: New Blood as the subject of the Merry F****** Kill podcast. Shortly after Harrison finds the episode that breaks down his mother’s murder, he attacks Ethan (Christian Dell’Edera).

As Dexter: New Blood continues, Harrison’s “dark passenger” becomes more apparent to Dexter. In “Skin of Her Teeth,” Harrison admits to knowing more than he let on about Rita’s (Julie Benz) death. Growing up, Harrison had nightmares about the Trinity Killer, but he didn’t recognize who he was until listening to Molly Park‘s (Jamie Chung) podcast.

In episode 7, fans get to see a glimpse into the past from Harrison’s point of view. As the blood pooled around him on the bathroom floor, a naked Trinity stepped out of the tub to comfort him, telling him “Daddy will be home soon.”

Harrison correlates Dexter leaving his life with Rita’s death and the Trinity Killer. But in reality, Dexter abandoned him in an attempt to protect Harrison. Now, Dexter feels sharing his “dark passenger” with Harrison could be the better alternative.

‘Dexter: New Blood’ fans loved seeing Arthur Mitchell again

After episode 7 of Dexter: New Blood aired, many fans took to Reddit to celebrate Lithgow’s unsettling return to the series. “That John Lithgow scene is pure terror and a cool throwback,” wrote one Reddit user.

“There, there. Daddy will be home soon,” another fan repeated Trinity’s chilling words. “As if that f****** Rita in the tub scene didn’t define my whole young adulthood … now it’s creeping into my middle-aged-ness!”

“I saw him credited somewhere and I have been waiting ALL SEASON for his appearance,” added another Reddit user. “I’m glad it sent some chills down my spine in true Trinity fashion.”

“Honestly that Trinity and Rita scene tore me up,” said another Dexter fan. “Seeing him get out of the tub nude and comfort Harrison was just … horrific.”

More Trinity to come in ‘Dexter: New Blood”

In the discussion about Trinity’s appearance in episode 7 of Dexter: New Blood, some fans wondered if that was all they would see of the fictional serial killer in the Showtime reboot. Other fans quickly pointed out Lithgow’s credit in more episodes of Dexter: New Blood. According to IMDb, Lithgow has credits for three more episodes: “Unfair Game,” “The Family Business,” and “Sins of the Father.”

Many think Trinity will appear in flashbacks of future Dexter: New Blood episodes. But one fan has an interesting theory: “Why do you think it’s only flashbacks? He could be revealed as an inner voice of Harrison at the end.” Other fans think Hannah McKay could be the voice of Harrison’s dark passenger.
