Saweetie and Migo’s member Quavo’s relationship seemingly came out of nowhere, but once the two went public with their love, fans were all about it. The two did interview after interview about how they got together and how they each grew from being with one another. But recently, something happened that has fans worried about whether the pair is still together.
How did Saweetie and Quavo meet?
Quavo and Saweetie didn’t mean in the traditional way. In 2018, Quavo actually slid into Saweetie’s direct messages on Instagram.
“I seen her on my Explore page. I was like, ‘D*mn! Who is this?’” Quavo told GQ magazine. “So I did my research and I DM her. I was like, ‘How she going to call herself icy and she don’t talk to me?’ So I slid in her DM. I told her, ‘You an icy girl, you need a glacier boy.’”
After Saweetie responded to the DM, the two talked for a few months before meeting up for dinner at Stoney River. Though the date got off to a rocky start as Quavo choked at some point during it, the two still continued to see each other and started a relationship. Since dating Quavo, Saweetie feels like she has learned a lot from the relationship.
“Growing up I struggled with communication, and he has taught me to be a better communicator,” she said. “I feel like I’m growing and I’m maturing because of him — not the music, not Saweetie, but Diamonté. I don’t know how I would be as a person if I would have never met him.”
Fans love Saweetie and Quavo together
When Saweetie and Quavo went public with their relationship, fans were skeptical at first, but eventually deemed them #couplegoals.
“I think what they admire the most is that they were wrong,” Saweetie once said of their fans in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “In the beginning, there was a lot of false narratives that kind of surrounded our love.
“I think, because we’re not so transparent and we don’t share everything, it’s easy for people to put a narrative or a story behind something,” she said. “And then other people run with it because they don’t understand. And when they don’t understand, you try to make yourself understand, and that’s when all these rumors started circulating.”
Fans think Saweetie and Quavo broke up
Recently, fans noticed that Saweetie and Quavo unfollowed one another on Instagram, leading people to believe there was trouble in paradise. Another clue that something may be amiss in the relationship came when Saweetie appeared on Respectfully Justin and host Justin LaBoy asked Saweetie what the most direspectful thing a guy had done to her was.
“He break your heart. It’s the last straw,” she answered.
