The 28-year-old star recently released her album Rare which was well received with her fans praising her. However, the album Rare isn’t the only thing Gomez has been working on. Gomez took to Instagram to share with her 192 million followers about her beauty line launch named Rare Beauty.

While the product launch went smoothly, many fans quickly noted the close similarities that the beauty line has to another celebrity’s makeup line. Read on to find out why people think Rare Beauty is the copycat of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna.

The reason behind Rare Beauty

In a press conference, Gomez stated that makeup has always been a huge part of her. She said that she believes in the art of simplicity, and that’s what she wants her makeup line to be all about. The Boyfriend singer got candid with her fans and reporters, stating that her line is all about letting women everywhere feel special and unique.

She noted that she loves imperfections, and she’s all about embracing flaws. For the 28-year-old singer, creating a beauty line meant so much more than having her name on some products. Gomez said that she would feel disingenuous if she ever put her name on something she didn’t believe in.

Rare Beauty is scheduled to launch online and at Sephora stores and online in the summer of 2020. The beauty line is set to launch in the United States market first and would then be made globally accessible by 2021.

Rare Beauty has enjoyed great reception among fans.

While it’s not news for a celebrity to launch a makeup line, Gomez’s Rare Beauty has become an instant hit with fans. Many influencer makeup lines haven’t lived up to the hype, but Rare Beauty breaks every barrier.

Many people within the beauty community have responded positively about the products. The reviews have mostly been positive, with many expressing their pleasant surprise at how they work.

Members of the beauty community expressed their satisfaction with the line noting that it wasn’t another cash grab like many other celebrity products. Most of the price comparisons Rare Beauty was placed on a side-by-side with was KKW Beauty, which many people have always expressed their dissatisfaction with, noting that the products were of compromisable quality but absurdly costly.

Rare Beauty is, however, under fire due to its packaging.

Although Rare Beauty has outdone itself with its quality, many couldn’t help but notice the similarities in packaging between Rare Beauty and Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. According to some Reddit users, the resemblance between the two makeup lines is uncanny, with the most significant similarity being the aesthetics and designs.

Many fans noted the similarity with both of the makeup lines using tall and frosty bottle designs. According to InStyle, Fenty Beauty is known for using minimalist white texts to print out the names on all of its products, which Rare Beauty seems to have also done.

However, some Twitter users and Selena fans came to the singer’s defense, noting that both Rare Beauty and Fenty Beauty are designed by the same agency and could thus be the party responsible for the striking similarities.

Overall, the responses have been positive, especially with the range and designs of the products. Many Selena fans know about her battle with arthritis. Therefore, they were pleased to learn that the round caps on her creations are meant to help people with arthritis easily grip onto the lids.

Rare Beauty currently offers customers 12 product ranges from foundation shades, lipsticks, primers, blushes, and brow pencils.
