Tamron Hall has been making headlines for topics discussed on her new talk show. The host has been open about being a new mom and her struggle to conceive after 40. The newlywed has also talked about being in an interracial marriage and how balancing home and career is a challenge.
This week, Hall got even more personal. She’s been open about the close friendship she shared with Prince until his passing in 2016 but there may have once been a love connection between the two. Fans believe that Hall and Prince dated after she revealed personal emails she and Prince shared.
How did Tamron Hall and Prince meet?
The former Today show host had a close relationship with the singer. The two bonded after Prince made a selfie that Hall took the cover of his single, “If I Could Get Your Attention.” Hall was flattered and later revealed that she sent the photo to him privately but that it was not unsolicited.
They became so close that she spoke to him daily. She even said that he was a stickler for fashion and that she accepted tips on what to wear from him. She once told the Today show, “Prince and my mother are the only two people who I talk to about what I’m going to wear,” she admitted. “I send him a picture in the morning.”
Though their relationship was tight-knit, they tried to keep it out of the spotlight. Hall spoke of Prince’s private nature after his passing with her Today Show co-hosts, saying,
“He protected his privacy, he protected the privacy of his friends…He didn’t want people to know all of the ways he helped other people. He did it as this silent angel, including how he helped me in my life on many occasions…”

Tamron Hall Hall mourns Prince’s death
Hall had such a devastating reaction to the death of Prince that she missed work in the days following his passing. At the time, she was working on both MSNBC and Today and skipped work on both shows the day after the world found out about his death. Hall revealed in a telephone interview with Today that she considered the icon to be one of her “best friends” and revealed that she’d spoken with him just hours before he was found unconscious, telling the hosts,
“He didn’t sound sick. He assured me he was okay. All Saturday he kept saying he was fine and asked me to come to Paisley to see his new piano and for a fan party. I was working and didn’t go. Monday, we exchanged emails after I sent him a video from a restaurant playing a song. I talked about how he was everywhere I go. It was a sweet moment and I had no idea it would be our last time talking. I never imagined it.”

His death shocked her, as it did most of the world, and she took to Twitter to express her sadness. “‘Like a bird without a song.’ I’ve lost one of my best friends today,” she wrote. “I know he would have advice right now, Prince I’m listening as always.”
Tamron Hall hints at romance with Prince
While promoting Prince’s upcoming memoir, Hall opened up about the role he played in her life on her show. “I never share my emails from Prince. I have hundreds, if not thousands by now- but I don’t wanna feel like I’m exploiting,” she said. “He said he didn’t like clothes.”
The friendship between Prince and Hall may have been more than platonic at one point. This week, Hall revealed an old email from the famed performer that hinted their relationship could have been a romantic one.
Prince responded to Hall’s photo by saying, “# 1: Eye hate Ur Red Dress…Y? Because It’s touching Ur body and Eye’m not. : (“
Hall spoke further on the email, telling the audience, “We had been very close for years by now…I’m happily married now,” she said. “We’ll leave that there. We’ll just let that simmer.”
I guess we will have to keep wondering as Hall would not confirm or deny if she and Prince were ever an item!
