Did You Know that Courtney Cox Shares This One Characteristic With her On-Screen Character, Monica Geller?
Courtney Cox is best known for her portrayal of Monica Geller on Friends. While the acting veteran originally auditioned for the part of Rachel Green, she was eventually cast as Monica, and when the show began, was the most well-known actor in the ensemble cast. Cox once suggested she was initially bummed about taking on the role of Monica instead of Rachel when Rachel’s relationship with Ross Geller took centerstage. It all worked out in the end, and could anyone who has watched an episode of Friends, really imagine Cox playing anyone other than Monica? Funnily enough, life apparently imitates art. Cox reportedly shares one significant characteristic with her onscreen persona.
Courtney Cox is a neat freak just like Monica Geller
Monica’s apartment in Friends is spacious, gorgeous, and impeccably clean. In fact, she appears to spend a lot of time ensuring that everything is precisely in its place, and she often freaks out if anything is moved or changed without her permission. While her OCD tendencies were the butt of more than one joke throughout 10 seasons, apparently, the cleanly characteristic was something that Cox completely understood.
According to Marta Kauffman, the co-creator of Friends, Cox shared the same desire to keep things orderly as her on-screen character. According to Fame 10, Kaufman once said, “Let’s face it, she’s adorable and intelligent and really together. She is Monica. She has the neatest dressing room. She even cleans up the other actors’ dressing rooms because she won’t go in there if they are too messy.”
Courtney Cox’s Instagram feed proves she’s incredibly tidy
Cox took a long time to jump on Instagram. In fact, the Scream actress just celebrated her first anniversary on the platform, and by the looks of it, she is just as tidy as Kauffman suggested so many years ago. Over the last year, Cox has shared a ton of photos from her home so fans can get a sense of the life she’s living, and every photo shows a pretty tidy environment.
Cox shares her gorgeous home with her 15-year-old daughter, Coco Arquette, and her long-time partner Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol. While the pair are not married, Cox told Jimmy Kimmel that they are basically married in her heart, according to People. The couple called off an engagement and parted ways back in 2014, but they rekindled their relationship pretty quickly.
Will Courtney Cox ever reprise her role as Monica Geller?
Friends premiered more than 25 years ago and catapulted Cox, along with Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer to A-list celebrity status. For ten seasons, fans watched the team grow together, face challenges together, and even walk off into the sunset sort-of together. That doesn’t mean fans are willing to say goodbye entirely, though. Hope for a reunion has always existed.
The show, which has been widely popular in syndication, will be streaming on HBO Max in May 2020, and there have long been talks that a reunion special would go along with it. Unfortunately, the potential for a reunion is just a “maybe,” according to Digital Spy. While Cox may take her neat freak ways to the soundstage once again, it’s equally likely that we’ll all have to settle for reruns.
