Diddy Wanted ‘Locks on Doors’ and No Air Conditioning at His ‘Kinky’ Parties
Years before the pile of accusations against him came to light, Sean “Diddy” Combs gave some insight into the parties he hosted. While detailing the elements needed for hosting a party, Diddy listed several necessities before noting that he likes to keep the doors locked. His tone may have been light, but his comments have fallen under scrutiny given recent details about his alleged “freak offs.”
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs said he kept doors locked at his parties
In a 2002 appearance on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Diddy spoke about throwing parties.
“This is what you need to do,” Diddy began, per Vibe Magazine. “Women. Beautiful women, of course. Beautiful men for the ladies, of course … You need to give the ladies what they need, too. Take care of your women. You can’t force the situation.”
He added that he liked to keep locks on the doors and turn off the air conditioner.
“We need alcohols,” he said. “You need some water. I don’t know if guys have noticed this, but a lot of ladies drink water at parties. So if you don’t have what they need, they gon’ leave. Gotta keep ’em there. You need locks on the doors… It’s a little kinky but, you know… rock with me. You need a lot of heat. Don’t have no air conditioning. Heat affects the alcohol and it also affects… you know, everybody gets a little bit more comfortable and loose. It builds up a nice little sweat.”
O’Brien noted that the parties sounded “dangerous” and “a bit disgusting.”
“It depends on how you look at it,” Diddy responded.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs predicted his parties would land him in trouble
As early as 1999, Diddy predicted that his parties might land him in legal trouble. Even at this point, his bashes were notorious amongst celebrities.
“You’re gonna hear about my parties, they’re gonna be shuttin’ ’em down,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the time (via E! News). “They’re gonna probably be arresting me, doing all types of crazy things just ‘cause we wanna have a good time.”
He said that backlash was not going to stop him from hosting.
“They won’t even give me a permit for the parties, man,” he said. “They don’t want me to throw the parties no more. But we ain’t gonna stop, we gonna keep on having fun. Bringing people together for all walks of life.”
He is currently in a New York jail
After his arrest this month on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, Diddy is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Currently, Diddy is staying in a section of the jail reserved for detainees who require special protection. Cryptocurrency entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried is also in this section.
Past notable detainees in the jail include Ghislaine Maxwell, R. Kelly, Martin Shkreli, Allison Mack, Fetty Wap, and Michael Cohen. Diddy’s lawyer is currently working to appeal a judge’s decision to deny him bail.
