Disgraced ‘Southern Charm’ Star Thomas Ravenel Finally Confirms Baby No 3, After Months of Trying to Keep It Secret
Disgraced Southern Charm star Thomas Ravenel just welcomed another baby. The former reality star, who was booted from the series following a sexual assault scandal, had a baby boy with a registered nurse named Heather Mascoe. Thomas has been very quiet about his relationship with Heather, but he broke his silence following the birth of his third child. Although Thomas is happy about becoming a father again, he admitted that his other two children, whom he shares with Kathryn Dennis, were a little confused by the situation.
How did Kathryn hear about the pregnancy news?
Thomas has been keeping Heather’s pregnancy under wraps for several months. Although things have improved between Thomas and Kathryn, the Southern Charm star learned about the pregnancy via her attorney.
Fortunately, the two have been able to keep things amicable, despite their history of stirring up drama. As Southern Charm fans are well aware, Kathryn and Thomas were embroiled in an intense custody battle that lasted years.
In fact, they only recently ironed out a custody agreement following Thomas’s sexual assault scandal. Per their new agreement, they each split time with their two children and share joint custody.
The reality stars, of course, had two children when they were dating. When he broke the news to his older kids, Thomas admitted that they were a bit “confused” by the notion of having a half-sibling.
“It’s kind of difficult to explain to them, you know, ‘This is your half-brother – different mothers, same father,'” he shared. “They were a little confused. In the end I just told them, ‘You’ll understand when you’re older!'”
Thomas added that his children have already Face Timed their half-brother and are “very excited” for the day when they actually get to see him in person. It is unclear when the families will get together, but Thomas assured fans that it was going to be very soon.
The former ‘Southern Charm’ star opens up about his new baby boy
This is the first time Thomas has opened up about his new son since the pregnancy news made headlines a few months ago. In an interview with Daily Mail, Thomas confirmed the arrival of baby number three and assured fans that the boy and his mother are “doing well.”
“We’ve named him Jonathan Jackson Ravenel and he was born by C-section on June 29, 7lbs 4oz and 20.25 inches long,” he stated. “We are both very happy. Heather is a phenomenal mom and they’re both doing well.”
The disgraced Southern Charm star briefly dated Heather last summer. The two went to great lengths to keep the pregnancy secret, though Thomas was spotted shopping for baby supplies at Target a few weeks ago.
The outing sparked a series of rumors that Thomas and Heather were expecting their first child together. Those reports turned out to be true and Thomas couldn’t help but share his excitement about having another son.
In addition to his interview, Thomas released several photos of Jonathan and Heather after the successful birth. This includes an adorable clip of the baby boy taking in his surroundings at the hospital.
Thomas revealed that Jonathan, who was delivered on June 29, “loves the sound of frogs.” Kathryn, meanwhile, has yet to say anything about Thomas’ new baby.
Are Thomas and Heather still together?
The baby news has many Southern Charm fans wondering if Thomas and Heather are still together. Unfortunately, the two are not dating at the moment, though Thomas claims that they are still “really good friends.”
“That’s how I’d put our relationship, really good friends. She’s happy and I’m happy,” he shared.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Thomas and Heather are being cautious about who they let interact with Jonathan. The virus is currently hitting Charleston, South Carolina, pretty bad, so it might be a while before we get another update.
Heather and the newborn are living in a home outside of the city. She also shares two other children with a popular restaurant owner in the city named Leo Chiagkouris.
Although it seems like Thomas and Heather are enjoying their time with their newborn son, Kathryn has yet to comment on the drama.
Filming for season 7 of Southern Charm started in February but the cast and crew stopped production when the coronavirus pandemic struck. It is unclear when the series will start filming again, but it is possible the new season will get pushed back to next year.
