Disney+’s ‘Daredevil’ Reboot Has Found Its Writers
Disney+ is reportedly moving forward with its Daredevil reboot, and the project just took a big step. Earlier this year, rumors circulated that the Marvel series would continue on Disney+ following its finale on Netflix back in 2018. Now, according to a new report, Disney+ has hired two writers for the reboot.
Disney+ ‘Daredevil’ reboot rumors circulated earlier this year
Daredevil originally ran on Netflix for three seasons beginning in 2014, as part of Marvel’s Defenders saga. The collection also included five other shows — Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Punisher, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. Daredevil followed Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox), a lawyer by day and a superhero vigilante with heightened senses named Daredevil by night. Netflix removed Daredevil, along with the other Defenders shows, earlier this year before they moved to Disney+.
Back in March, rumors circulated that Disney+ planned to reboot Daredevil, either as a new series or by continuing with a fourth season. Production Weekly listed the series in its March issue, stating that it would begin production soon. However, an official date was not provided, nor was a description for the series. Disney+ itself also has yet to confirm the reboot.
Two writers have signed onto the ‘Daredevil’ reboot
According to the latest development from Variety, Disney+ is officially moving forward with the reboot. Matt Corman and Chris Ord will reportedly write the series and executive produce. Corman and Ord previously worked together on USA Network’s Cover Affairs, which aired from 2010 to 2014. They also served as executive producers on NBC’s The Enemy Within and The Brave, plus the CW’s Containment.
Charlie Cox confirmed he would reprise his role in another project
Many fans have pushed for Marvel to continue Daredevil since its cancellation. And though there haven’t been any updates on the series until now, Charlie Cox has reprised his role in other forms. Last year, he appeared as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Plus, he confirmed to RadioTimes.com that he knew “something” about another Daredevil project.
“I don’t know much, but I know there will be something else,” he said.
Another Daredevil star, Deborah Ann Woll, who played Karen Page, also expressed interest in returning for another season.
“I would gladly, in a heartbeat, pick Karen back up,” Woll told Den of Geek. “Obviously, I would want it to be the right thing. I wouldn’t want to go for it if it felt completely different from what we did.”
