Disney Fans Are Upset About This Shocking Scene Potentially Included in the Live-Action ‘Bambi’
It’s time to go back into the forest with Bambi, Thumper, and all of their friends. Still, some Disney fans are worried about one particular character in Bambi. Will this one scene be included during the live-action version of Bambi? What are fans saying about the upcoming remake? Here’s our look into Disney’s recently announced photo-real adaptation.
This article contains spoilers from the original animated film, Bambi!
Disney is creating a live-action adaptation of ‘Bambi’
With the success of Disney’s photo-real adaptation of The Lion King, the company recently announced plans to create another “live-action” remake. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writers Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider) and Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Chaos Walking) will pen the screenplay for a reboot of their animated classic, Bambi.
Depending on the story, Disney isn’t afraid to alter the story of its live-action movies. For the Disney+ release, Lady and the Tramp, the controversial “Siamese Cat Song” was excluded. The ending of the 2019 live-action adaptation of Dumbo is, what Refinery 29 calls, “a more animal rights-friendly ending.”
At the same time, the studio had Mufasa suffer the same fate in the remake version of The Lion King that he did in the animated classic. Because Bambi is still in the works, there’s no word regarding the fate of certain characters, primarily Bambi’s mom.
Will Bambi’s mom die in the live-action adaptation?
Presumably, the story of the live-action Bambi will follow the same young fawn, Bambi, as he navigates the forest with his newfound friends. However, some Disney fans are already asking about the fate of one character in particular — Bambi’s mom.
In the animated film, Bambi’s mother is shot by hunters and Bambi is left along with his friends. Will the deer suffer the same fate in this photo-real remake? Unfortunately, nothing has been revealed by Disney regarding this story. Still, some fans took to social media, sharing their thoughts on the upcoming film.
“I’m not going to watch the live-action Bambi. I can’t live through Bambi’s mom’s murder again. Especially in live-action,” one Twitter user said.
Who looked around at 2020 and thought you know what’s missing – reliving the trauma of Bambi’s mom dying,” another Twitter user wrote.
When will the photo-real adaptation of ‘Bambi’ premiere?
The details surround Bambi are still pretty murky. Inside the Magic reports that this film will presumably be created with the same CGI technology used for The Lion King and The Jungle Book.
The Hollywood Reporter states that the production company behind Bambi, “Depth of Field, is already working on a Disney live-action remake as it is in active development on Pinocchio which has Robert Zemeckis directing.”
Disney has not officially released details of this live-action adaptation. There’s no word regarding who will portray the title character, when production will begin, or when the film will premiere. Until then, fans can stream the original animated version of Bambi on Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+.
