Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’ Reboot Acquires This Former Pixar Voice Actor
Walt Disney Studios is revamping The Haunted Mansion movie from 2003. Many viewers recall that Eddie Murphy played the hilarious real estate agent Jim Evers. The Evers family is drawn into the Gracey Manor’s haunted past. The original film and the reboot are both based on the Disney Parks theme ride.
The studio already brought in strong talent—Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield—but it just cast a famous voice from Disney Pixar’s Cars. Who is the new foolish mortal (or ghoul) to climb aboard?
What we know about ‘The Haunted Mansion’ movie reboot
The reboot will be different from the original. The new movie reportedly has an ensemble nature. So many Disney fans believe the studio could add more famous names to the mix.
According to Backstage, the film will feature the Disney Parks ride’s “999 haunts. A ghost tour guide must investigate the home’s supernatural forces. Disney still has not shared Haddish and Stanfield’s character information.
The plot reportedly focuses on a family who moves into the mansion—presumably, they are the “foolish mortals” who collide with the “happy haunts.” In the 2003 movie, the family stops by the Gracey Manor temporarily.
The Haunted Mansion movie will start production in Atlanta in October 2021. Disney has not determined the release date nor confirmed other plot details.

Life has been a highway for this actor who starred in Disney Pixar’s Cars movies. In 2006, viewers of all ages watched as the initially self-absorbed Lightning McQueen learned a moral lesson.
In case anyone can’t remember, Owen Wilson voiced that “very famous racecar” and he stars in the new Haunted Mansion movie per The Hollywood Reporter. Wilson has not commented on his upcoming role, and the studio remains tight-lipped on the project. Since the family-friendly horror should include ghosts, Wilson could either voice a character or play a live-action one.
The actor is known for his array of comedic roles, such as Wedding Crashers, The Night at the Museum, and The Internship. However, Wilson is also a screenwriter, producer, and comedian. Some viewers assumed his only Disney role was in Pixar’s Cars. But he’s back in the Disney saddle again playing Mobius M. Mobius on the Disney+ series Loki.
Disney+ will stream a Muppets version of ‘The Haunted Mansion’
The grim-grinning ghosts will have to wait to socialize with us since production hasn’t started. But Disney+ will roll out its Hallowstream collection in the fall of 2021. In it is the Muppets Haunted Mansion.
The streaming service announced the Muppets special takes place on Halloween night. Gonzo accepts a challenge to spend a night at The Haunted Mansion. The family-friendly feature will include celebrity cameos and new music to celebrate the countdown to Halloween.
The Muppets Haunted Mansion premieres on Oct. 8, 2021. However, the Hallowstream will also present the LEGO Star Wars “Terrifying Tales” as part of its “Boo Releases.”
For the Hallowstream’s “Creepy Classics,” Disney+ will stream fan-favorite Halloween flicks from Hocus Pocus to Halloweentown, to Twitches. And the streamer couldn’t forget about 2003’s The Haunted Mansion.
