Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t been able to escape the bad press lately, and now some in Hollywood are reportedly making sure they escape any business dealings or other ventures with the Sussexes.

The duke and duchess were criticized in January for traveling to Los Angeles and “touring” parts of the county devastated by the wildfires. They were dubbed “disaster tourists” and accused of only stopping at an evacuation center in Pasadena to get a “photo op” with the town’s mayor and fire officials. Then, a Vanity Fair feature that no one saw coming dealt the couple a serious blow.

The magazine’s February 2025 cover story titled “Inside Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Big Business Ambitions, 5 Years After Their Royal Exit” contained several damning allegations about the pair including that Meghan treats her employees so badly that they “need long-term therapy” after working for her. Those accusations brought to mind what was said about Harry’s wife months earlier when members of the “Sussex Survivors Club” told The Hollywood Reporter that the duchess walks around barking orders like a “dictator in high heels” and labeled her a “demon boss” who has “psycho moments.”

Now, there are reports that A-listers are steering clear from Harry and Meghan to avoid the bad publicity and negativity that seems to always surround them.

Prince Harry and Meghan have been ‘excommunicated’ by several A-listers

The Sussexes are said to be “distressed” over the fresh allegations and have gotten the cold shoulder from much of Hollywood’s elite.

Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan shared her thoughts about just how damaging the Vanity Fair piece has been for them.

Speaking during an episode of Recollections May Vary on commentator Kinsey Schofield’s Unfiltered podcast, Callahan said: “This cover story has a lot of teeth which is something most publications no longer have. Vanity Fair thought that they could take a wrecking ball to these two and just obliterate them, it tells you everything we need to know about where they stand in the industry.

“Whether it’s publishing, podcasting, streaming. It followed the Hollywood Reporter story, which basically said Hollywood is done with them.”

Kim Kardashian has reportedly turned her back and is ‘not taking Meghan calls’

Since the Vanity Fair article came out sources have explained that “there’s a perception that Meghan and Harry are a couple of real try-hards. As a result, some stars are said to bristle at the mention of their name.” And one of those celebrities reportedly done with the duke and duchess is Kim Kardashian.

There was chatter over the last two years that Meghan was going to partner with Kim after the former Suits star‘s mother, Doria Ragland, was seen hanging out with the SKIMS founder and her mother, Kris Jenner. The reality stars met Meghan and Harry at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s vow renewal in 2023.

According to The Mirror US, Kim was “once all for a Kardashian-royal collaboration. It seems she’s now changed her mind.” However, Kim’s mom may not have turned her back on the duchess yet as Kris was one of the people Meghan sent out jars of jam to for the soft-launch of her American Riveria Orchard brand last year.

But a source told Closer Magazine: “As much as Kim respects her mom Kris’ choice to support them, she doesn’t want to be associated with anyone that’s controversial unless they really are a great benefit to her. As far as she can tell, there’s not much benefit to hanging out with the Sussexes … Kim’s not returning Meghan’s emails or calls. The word has essentially gotten back to Meghan that she’s not keen on hanging out with the Sussexes at all, which is a huge blow.’
