Who Is DMX’s Fiancee, Desiree Lindstrom?
Rapper Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, died of a heart attack on April 9, 2021. Throughout his career, the 50-year-old rapper never shied away from his personal life. In addition to opening up about his crack/cocaine addiction, Dark Man X also flaunted his loved ones in public. Before he died, DMX was engaged to Desiree Lindstrom. Here’s everything Showbiz Cheat Sheet knows about the rapper’s paramour.
Desiree Lindstrom gave birth to one of DMX’s kids in 2016
DMX started his career in the late 1990s. The Yonkers, New York native, inked a deal with Def Jam in 1998. Soon after, he released his first studio album, It’s Dark, and Hell is Hot. The debut project reached no. 1 on the Billboard charts and included hit songs such as “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” and “Get At Me Dog.” DMX followed up his album’s success with four more chart-topping albums between the 1990s and 2000s.
During the height of his success, DMX was married to Tashera Simmons. The pair met as teenagers and tied the knot in 1994. Throughout their relationship, the couple welcomed four children: Xavier Simmons, Tacoma Simmons, Shawn Simmons, and Praise Mary Ella Simmons. However, despite working on their marriage in front of DMX’s fans, the pair divorced in 2014.
According to HollywoodLife, DMX and Lindstrom 28 started seeing each other around 2013. Three years after they started dating, she became pregnant with their son, Exodus. Exodus is the youngest of the rapper’s 15 kids. Lindstrom gushed about her small tribe via Instagram in Nov. 2020.
“This is who I’m always going to be thankful for my little family through the good, the bad, the ups, and the downs!!!” Lindstrom wrote. “I love them both unconditionally! My little crazy unexplainable family, lol!!!! Mwah.”
DMX and Desiree Lindstrom got engaged at their son’s birthday party
Although DMX and Simmons had a tumultuous marriage, the “X Gon Give It to Ya” artist wanted to try again with Lindstrom. In 2019, after he returned from prison for tax evasion, he asked the mother of his child to marry him. She accepted his proposal, which occurred at their son’s third birthday party. The engagement reportedly came after the couple briefly broke up several years ago, per Essence.
“I’m in love; he did a great job!!!” Lindstrom wrote under a photo of her engagement ring.
While the pair were seemingly smitten with each other, some social media commenters didn’t support the relationship. On several occasions, Lindstrom took to Instagram to defend her and DMX.
“People will never understand or get our relationship but guess what, f**k them!” she wrote. “We know we love each other, we both are not perfect by any means, but we know where we stand with each other! I love u baby!”
The Ruff Ryder emcee and his fiancee danced on Instagram before his death
DMX died one week after his catastrophic heart attack left him on life support. On Friday, his family released an official statement confirming his death.
The news of the “Where the Hood At” rapper’s condition came several days following an Instagram video of him dancing in Lindstrom’s car surfaced. The artist looked at his fiancee’s camera as he shimmied to “Rock My World” by Michael Jackson.
“He talking about record us rocking lol he too funny!!!” she captioned.
