Princess Diana died more than two decades ago, but it hasn’t stopped her family or the public from carrying on her legacy. She was the most photographed woman in her time and an important member of the Royal Family. Diana was the mother of both Prince William and Prince Harry. But do Prince William’s children really know who Diana was?

Both Prince William and Prince Harry want to remember their mother and make sure their children know who she was. Prince William’s two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are already well aware of who their famous grandmother is. A royal source revealed the details to Us Weekly.

“George and Charlotte know all about their late grandmother and what an amazing woman she was. William tells them she’s watching over them from heaven,” the source explained. Prince Louis will of course follow his siblings’ lead and learn about Diana as well once he is old enough to understand.

Princess Diana died at just 36 but was lucky enough to spend time with her children before she died in a tragic car accident. Both Prince William and Prince Harry were able to know their mother before her life was cut short. She left a positive and lasting influence on them both that has stood the test of time. She was an excellent mother who always put her children first.

“Diana was such a wonderful mother. William and Kate are doing their best to take after her when it comes to raising George, Charlotte and Louis,” said the inside source. “They’re determined to give their kids a normal life, just like Diana did.”

Princess Diana loved children

Princess Diana changed what it means to be royal. She was the epitome of goodness and she always used her celebrity for good. Her children have taken up her mantle and carry on with her work after her death. She was extremely fond of children and she enjoyed helping them in any way she could. It’s hard not to imagine how she would have been as a grandmother.

What does Prince William think his mother would have been like as a grandmother?

According to Prince William, Diana would have been a “nightmare grandmother.” William revealed the startling information in the documentary Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy which aired on ITV in July 2017.

“She’d be a nightmare grandmother, an absolute nightmare,” Prince William said. “She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come, probably at bath time, cause an amazing scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place, and then leave.”

Clearly William meant it all in good fun because he then said that his mother would have actually been a “lovely grandmother,” which royal fans already know. Diana would have been the doting grandmother who is there for all types of occasions, even the small ones. She absolutely adored her own children and she would have treated her grandchildren the same way.

It’s unfortunate that Princess Diana won’t ever get the chance to see her grandchildren grow up, but her children are determined to keep her memory alive.
