Fans seem to be slightly conflicted on which show is best. Some viewers are fans of both shows, but feel The Last Kingdom has “passed” Game of Thrones by a landslide. “I’m a fan of both shows, and I never thought it would turn out this way, but after watching the last 3 episodes of GoT, I think The Last Kingdom has officially passed Game of Thrones as a series,” a Reddit user proclaimed.
‘Game of Thrones’ has more seasons
Other fans are not as willing to make that assumption just yet considering Game of Thrones has a total of eight seasons and The Last Kingdom is working on its fourth.
“While the most recent season of GoT is disappointing imo, it’s been going on for 8 seasons,” another user explained. “I love TLK but compare the first three seasons of GoT to TLK. GoT has had more time to get where it is now, who knows where TLK would be by a season 8.”
It may be too early to make a decision
Other fans definitely agree that it is too soon to make such a claim when it’s still early on for The Last Kingdom compared to how long Game of Thrones lasted.

Another fan says if you compare the first three seasons on Game of Thrones with The Last Kingdom, GoT will win. “The Last Kingdom has only had three seasons and if you compare the first three against the first three of Game of Thrones, Game of Thrones wins,” a user chimed in.
Some fans prefer Game of Thrones to The Last Kingdom in every way. “I like both shows but its a hard no from me. GoT trumps TLK in literally every way. Better story, acting, costumes, music, sets, and CGI,” another user expressed.
Both shows are very different
Both shows are completely different and fans like them for different reasons. Game of Thrones had a larger budget though, giving it an obvious advantage over the other.
“Despite superficial similarities, they are actually exceedingly different shows,” another Reddit user said. “I like both of them in different ways. Also, GoT has a much larger budget which gives it a distinct advantage.”

Even still, there are fans that prefer The Last Kingdom to Game of Thrones. “I am watching GoT for the first time right now, and it is really good,” a user admitted. “However, entertainment is subjective, and I was way more captivated by The Last Kingdom the moment I turned it on. So yes, for me, so far, TLK > GoT.”
Viewers are completely conflicted about which show they prefer over the other. It makes sense, considering everyone has different opinions and preferences. But there will always be loyal fans of each of the series that will prefer one over the other.
