The Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured aliens, robots, and even zombies, but it has never delved into the world of dinosaurs. However, it appears as though the prehistoric creatures might be entering the MCU via Doctor Strange 2, thanks to a new magazine cover that’s full of Easter eggs.

A new ‘Doctor Strange 2’ magazine cover features a dinosaur

The next issue of Empire will be all about the Doctor Strange sequel, and one of the images is a classic Marvel magazine cover. It features Doctor Strange at the center, and surrounding him are multiple smaller pictures that tease the upcoming MCU film. And one of the Easter eggs on the Empire cover is an image of a dinosaur, leading fans to believe the Savage Land is a part of Doctor Strange 2.

The Savage Land is a prehistoric tropical location hidden in Antarctica in the comic books. It’s a place where dinosaurs roam, and superheroes, especially the X-Men, often visit.

After seeing the trailer, fans first speculated that Doctor Strange 2 would introduce dinosaurs to the MCU via the Savage Land. The video features Doctor Strange and America Chavez falling through a forest with dinosaurs lurking in the background. So now, with Empire’s newest issue, it’s clear that the MCU now has dinosaurs. However, they probably exist in a different universe.

Benedict Cumberbatch compares ‘Doctor Strange 2’ to another MCU film

While speaking with Empire about Doctor Strange 2, Benedict Cumberbatch made a bold prediction about the upcoming MCU movie.

“It’s a big, big movie,” the actor teased. “It’s going to be an absolute riot. And if it brings off the level of ambition it’s got, we’re going to have a success on the level of Spidey. There you go, I’ll put my flag in the sand.”

Fans last saw Doctor Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which featured him and Peter Parker accidentally tearing open the multiverse. The events of that film lead directly into the Doctor Strange sequel as the sorcerer deals with the consequences of messing with the multiverse. So it’s not surprising that Doctor Strange 2 could potentially perform at the same level as the third Spider-Man film.

Plus, Doctor Strange 2 is unmistakably ambitious given that it features dinosaurs in the MCU.

Everything we know about the upcoming ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel

The MCU cast of Doctor Strange 2 includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Stephen Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.

Although Marvel has yet to verify the casting news, Patrick Stewart confirmed the rumor that he is in the movie. Stewart previously played Professor X in the X-Men film series, but his role in Doctor Strange 2 is unknown. He’s likely reprising his role as Charles Xavier or playing a variant of the mutant.

Other rumored cameos include Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Tom Cruise as Iron Man, and John Krasinski as Reed Richards. However, fans probably won’t know if these rumors are valid until the movie releases in theaters.

The synopsis for the Doctor Strange sequel reads, “Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.”

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres exclusively in theaters on May 6.
