Documentary Shows How The Philadelphia Eagles Organization Made Pulse Survivor Dream Wedding Come True
The Philadelphia Eagles organization provided a deserving couple with the wedding of their dreams. Patience Carter survived the unthinkable after being trapped in the bathroom of the Pulse Night Club during one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. She found love in a hopeless place in her now-husband, Alex Murray.
With the help of the football organization, they enjoyed their dream wedding right in their hometown of Philadelphia on the same field that the Super Bowl-winning team plays! Their road to the alter is documented in a new three-part docu-series, Sincerely Patience.
Patience Carter and Alex Murray’s love story
Carter and Murray are the definition of what it means to find a light at the end of the tunnel. Carter survived the tragic Orlando Pulse Nightclub Shooting in 2016. Unfortunately, her friend’s cousin, Akyra Murray, was killed during the attack.
When Carter returned home to Philadelphia after being released from the hospital in Orlando, she moved in with Murray’s cousin, who was her best friend at the time. Murray is Akyra’s sister and often visited the home. He made it a priority to talk to Carter, who was visibly traumatized and withdrawn as a result of the shooting.
“Alex just made an effort to talk to me,” Carter recalled in part one of the documentary. “He saw that I was really closed off and that I was somewhere in a dark place, he could sense that. He was hurting too and he still found that extra love to give to me.”
They found love in one another and were able to work their way towards healing as a collective. They fell in love and after two years of dating, Murray proposed to Carter during a live basketball game.
How did The Philadelphia Eagles Organization become involved with the wedding?
Both Carter and Murray were interested in being married at the famed Lincoln Financial Field – home of the Philadelphia Eagles. They were both born and raised in Philadelphia and Murray was a football player himself as a child. He once even played on the same stadium field as The Philadelphia Eagles before being injured in his teenage years, putting an end to any football dreams.
With the city and stadium holding such value to the couple, Carter sent a touching email to the Philadelphia Eagles organization explaining her story of survival and finding love. They responded and agreed that they would host her and Murray’s upcoming nuptials.
Murray and Carter set a date for the wedding, August 25, 2019, and the planning began!
What did The Philadelphia Eagles Organization cover for Patience Carter and Alex Murray’s wedding?
The Philadelphia Eagles Organization acted as an official sponsor and covered practically every aspect of the wedding. During one of their first meetings, Carter and Murray took a tour of the entire stadium and reviewed options for where they would house each portion of their wedding.
The Murray wedding ceremony was held on the 50-yard-line on the field at Lincoln Financial Field. They topped things off with a cocktail hour in the player’s locker room and the official reception in the Touchdown Club.
The organization also covered all expenses related to vendors for the wedding. All fees for photography, videography, floral arrangements, food and beverage, music and desserts were waived.
To top things off, hair and makeup services were provided by the same team that does work for the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleaders. The excited couple also received complimentary wedding attire, which included a wedding gown and tuxedo for the bride and groom, as well as tuxes and gown for the entire wedding party. Golden Nugget Jewelers, who already had a special partnership with The Philadelphia Eagles, provided the couple with their wedding bands.
What was Eagles Entertainment Originals’ part in the wedding?
Along with providing the venue and acting as an official sponsor, the team’s official production company, Eagles Entertainment Originals, produced the three-part documentary. They also heavily promoted the history-making project with a billboard displayed outside of the Lincoln Financial field, set up interviews with local news and created a website for everyone to view.
