Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle in a very colorful and widely covered wedding. The wedding was attended by the crème de la crème from both their backgrounds. Markle was an established actress with her most notable role in Suits, where she played Rachel Zane.

While all seemed like roses for the Royal pair, it wasn’t long until the new Duchess began receiving hate and scrutiny from the media. The British press showed Markle no mercy and violated her privacy countlessly.

Although the Royal Family is always subjected to intense scrutiny, Markle got subjected to racist commentary from the media. Prince Harry noted that he was afraid of what might happen if he didn’t speak up on the matter as he saw first-hand how damaging the paparazzi could be from his mother, Princess Diana‘s death.

After evaluating the situation at hand, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their exit from the Royal Family, finalized on March 31st.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multi-year deal with the streaming giant to tap into their huge fan base comprising 193 million viewers. The CEO of the streaming service Ted Sarandos expressed his gratitude towards the couple for choosing them.

His statement said in part that the couple’s leadership and authenticity have inspired many people, and their choice to partner with Netflix was momentous. He added that Netflix was excited to work with the Royals to tell stories that different audiences everywhere can relate with.

The mega-deal with Netflix includes children’s animated series, documentaries, feature films, and scripted TV shows. Netflix is not new to bringing in huge names to their repertoire. The streaming service brought in creatives such as Shonda Rhimes and Kenya Barris for their highly acknowledged shows.

Netflix also enlisted Former US President and First Lady Barrack and Michelle Obama to produce content for them, meaning that the streaming giant is highly experienced in handling distinguished names and don’t mind taking a gamble with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Many aren’t interested in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix content

A YouGov poll suggests that Markle and Prince Harry may have an uphill task when it comes to convincing people to tune in to their programs. The poll involved 2700 British adults who gave their opinion on the Royal Netflix content, with only 3% of the UK respondents expressing interest in the royals’ programming.

The poll revealed that women were more interested than men, with 4% of the respondents being female to 1% of the males. The poll’s major consensus is that not many people seemed interested in the programming, as 64% of the respondents expressed disinterest.

However, all is not lost as the Royal couple may strike gold with a younger audience. The poll revealed that people in the age bracket 18-24 were more likely to be interested with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix content.
