Ciara and Future were one of music’s hottest couples. He was Atlanta’s fastest-rising rapper and she was the “Princess of Crunk&B.” At one point, Ciara put her love on full display by getting a tattoo in honor of her “Body Party” collaborator. But as we now know, that didn’t turn out too well. Now, we’re wondering: Does Ciara still have the tattoo?
Ciara got a tattoo for Future during their relationship
She began dating the “Mask Off” rapper in 2013. After much tabloid speculation, Future confirmed their relationship that January, saying in an interview (via XXL): “The chemistry is there. It’s amazing. She makes me happy; I make her smile.”
After the couple went public, their relationship moved quickly. Uproxx reported in April 2013 that Ciara and Future had even gotten couples tattoos on their ring fingers. Ciara received an “N” for Future’s first name, Nayvadius, while he tattooed a “C” for her name.
By the end of the year, they were engaged and expecting a son, Future Zahir Wilburn, who was born in May 2014. However, there were still clear problems in their relationship. After rumors of Future’s alleged infidelity emerged in August 2014, they officially ended their engagement that year.
“They tried to work things out between them but it could not be saved,” a source told E! News around the time of the split. “Ciara could not get over what had happened. She is focusing on her baby and friends now. Her baby is the most important person in her life.”
Does Ciara still have the tattoo?
After the breakup, multiple outlets reported that Ciara had started the tattoo removal process. She did not address the reports. However, TMZ pretty much confirmed them in December 2014 when it obtained and published a photo where her finger art looked more faint than usual.
Speaking to the outlet, a source said: “Future isn’t upset about it, and understands it’s part of moving on.” The insider also noted that Future would be keeping the tattoo he got in honor of his ex, though it’s unclear if it’s still there now.
Ciara is now living her best life
After splitting from Future, Ciara began dating NFL star Russell Wilson in 2015. They became engaged in March 2016 and married in a fairytale ceremony in England that July. Now, they share a beautiful blended family that includes two more children, daughter Sienna, 3, and son Win, 3 months.
Reflecting on the past few years of her life in a 2019 episode of Red Table Talk, Ciara admitted that she initially struggled as a single mom. But once she met Wilson, things started to come full circle.
“I had never had that feeling in my life,” she shared. “It was just, like, calm. We were connecting in every way. … His conversation, it was just different. The way that he looked at life was different. Also, the energy with my son, it just felt right. And of course, the consistency. He’s consistent. That consistency is so crucial.”
“He was like this, open arms,” she continued, stretching out her arms. “And he was like, ‘I got you.’ Just the detail. Whenever he would think about me, he would think about my son. And to love me is to love my son. We come together. It’s dope. It’s a different level of love.”
