The finale set into motion an action-packed season 17, and the actress climbed right back into Ziva David’s skin — with a new outlook on life and a shaken disposition. Yet, what’s next for Cote de Pablo? Will she return for season 18? Does she have any other upcoming projects in the pipeline that may take up her time?
Cote de Pablo has no outside acting projects coming up
According to IMDb, Cote de Pablo’s calendar is pretty open in the acting realm. Though she left NCIS to explore other shows and movies — most notably The 33 and The Dovekeepers — it looks like de Pablo hasn’t signed on for any major acting roles in the near future.
Though Cote de Pablo isn’t set to star in an upcoming show or movie, that doesn’t mean the actress won’t be busy. She is set to work as an executive producer on a new CBS show with her former NCIS love interest, Michael Weatherly.
Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly will join forces behind-the-scenes for ‘MIA’
As Variety notes, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are reuniting for a CBS drama, but they will not share the screen (to the dismay of “Tiva” lovers spanning the globe). Instead, they will partner as executive producers on a series titled MIA.
MIA will follow a newly-minted homicide detective who is assigned to work with a by-the-book partner who’s been busting crime for ages, as Variety explains. The new detective struggles to keep some personal issues at bay while working on her new undercover assignment.
The show should be an interesting collaboration for the two, especially since they are both comfortable working in front of the camera when it comes to crime-oriented dramas. Yet, hopefully, like NCIS, the new show will incorporate needed doses of humor.
Though Cote de Pablo will be working behind the scenes with Weatherly, Weatherly will likely still lead Bull, unless the show faces cancellation. Thus, one would presume that Cote de Pablo would also still have time for NCIS.
Cote de Pablo’s return to season 18 of ‘NCIS’ has not been confirmed
As of now, whether Cote de Pablo will return for season 18 of NCIS remains unknown. Yet, there are a few positive signs. One: her calendar isn’t too packed. Two: her storyline could use a “Tiva” reunion, and fans would love to see the character reunited with her love and child. Three: the character brings back fans who departed the show seasons before, working to boost ratings.
While Cote de Pablo’s return to NCIS has not been confirmed, the signs seem to point in a positive direction. And, who knows, maybe she will talk her new executive producing partner on ‘MIA’ into doing a cameo appearance.
