She’s a philanthropist and a country music star, but Dolly Parton also has a few Thanksgiving recipes up her sleeve, or rather, in her wig. Thanks to her cookbook, fans can try their own hand at some of the artist’s favorite holiday dishes, including her famous skillet cornbread.

She’s released songs like “Jolene,” “9 to 5,” and “Coat of Many Colors.” Parton even shares her love for the holidays with her music. This artist released a country album, titled A Holly Dolly Christmas, featuring songs like “Holly Jolly Christmas,” “Comin’ Home For Christmas,”  and “Christmas Is Where We Are.”

Aside from her country music stardom, Dolly Parton does have a partner of over 50 years, Carl Thomas Dean. (She does not have any children, though.) As a result, some fans are wondering if this artist has the time to cook holiday meals for her own family.

Dolly Parton loves to cook, sharing recipes with her original cookbook

Parton often shares some of her favorite recipes with fans, including a few Thanksgiving “fixins’.” That’s mostly thanks to her cookbook, Dolly’s Dixie Fixin’s: Love, Laughter, and Lots of Good Food, which features features over 100 recipes collected from her childhood, family members, and Dollywood.

“I still like to try new foods as often as I can,” Parton said of her cookbook. “But when it comes to cooking for myself and my husband Carl and my great big extended family, which numbers into the multiple hundreds these days, what we really want to eat is what comforts us most: good, hearty food rooted in Mama’s cooking and those country gatherings of my childhood.”

“It’s the food from those Mom and Pop joints that welcome you in as if you’re family,” she continued. “We really just want food that is lovingly made and joyfully served up. Around here, that’s what we call Dixie Fixin’s.”

Does Dolly Parton cook Thanksgiving dinner for her family?

It’s unclear if Parton is the chef behind her family’s own Thanksgiving meal. However, in one Facebook post, the artist shared that this holiday is all about her favorite things “family, fun, and food.”

Some recipes in the cookbook are perfect for Thanksgiving, including her skillet cornbread. This artist is taking her Thanksgiving celebration one step further in 2020, with a set appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This parade will, of course, look somewhat different from years past, some with performances being prerecorded and the actual parade route being shortened significantly to discourage crowds.

This celebrity is known for much more than just her food. She’s earned plenty of awards and recognition, for everything from her country music to her philanthropic work. Recently, Parton helped fund the Moderna coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine research.
