Mariah Carey does cook for Christmas

Even though she’s often busy in the weeks leading up to this holiday, during one interview, Carey explained that she prioritizes staying with her family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. As a result, this pop diva has time to cook and bake in the kitchen.

“I like to cook every year. I cook on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th — all different menus,” the singer said during a video interview with GQ Magazine. “One of them is one of my father’s recipes. Before he passed away, he left me this recipe that I like to make every year on Christmas Eve.”

Mariah Carey makes turkey for her family on Christmas Day

While she cooks family recipes leading up to Christmas, on the actual holiday, it’s all about the turkey. With the help of another cook, Carey makes the turkey as the main dish for her family’s Christmas dinner.

“It took me a while to learn how to do the turkey. You have to know what you’re doing to make a turkey. You can’t poison people,” Carey continued during the same interview. “I’m not going to lie, I typically have a sous chef there, but I do have a very specific menu.”

Carey even has her own line of cookies on every fan’s Christmas list. Created in 2020, Mariah’s Cookies is a dessert delivery service that includes Chocolate Chunk, Triple Chocolate Chunk, Heath Bar, Lemon Cooler, and Spiced Oatmeal Raisin.

There have been rumors of a Carey-created cookbook full of Christmas recipes, with the artist even sharing her interest in branching out to work on the project. However, there’s no official release date for this cookbook.

In the meantime, fans can listen to holiday music by Carey, including the iconic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special premiered on Dec. 4, 2020, on Apple TV+.
