Does Taylor Swift Have Any Tattoos?
For the past 14 years, following the debut of her self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift has stood center stage in the spotlight. When she initially rose to fame, having public relationships with stars like Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner, she navigated the trials and tribulations of her life in interviews and through her music.
Now, in the third decade of her life, Swift’s image has changed drastically. Following her very public spat with Kanye and Kim Kardashian West, she has stripped away from her “good girl” image. She has now become an advocate for women, the LGBTQ community, and she’s spoken out against the current presidential administration.
Though her looks have gotten bolder with her more recent albums Lover and Folklore and with her Netflix documentary, Miss Americana, fans have always wondered if the singer has any hidden tattoos.
Taylor Swift launched her career with a ‘good girl’ image
When the Speak Now singer first launched her career back in 2006, she had a bubble gum pink image that allowed her to be embraced by country and pop fans. Even after she transitioned into a more pop sound with 1989, her image remained relatively tame, despite the fact that she’d gotten older.
In fact, Swift found that focusing on her music and remaining neutral in the face of various controversies allowed her to maintain a massive fan base while evading any damaging criticism that has befallen other stars.
“Every time I didn’t speak up about politics as a young person, I was applauded for it,” she told Variety. “It was wild. I said, ‘I’m a 22-year-old girl — people don’t want to hear what I have to say about politics.’ And people would just be like, ‘Yeahhhhh!’” Swift is doing things a lot differently now.
Taylor Swift’s image has shifted drastically in recent years
Though the “August” singer has gotten more private when it comes to her personal life and her longterm relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, she’s gotten more outspoken in other ways.
Last year she put music executive Scooter Braun on blast for allegedly holding her masters captive, she’s clapped back at President Donald Trump, and she’s found her voice in many ways. She explained to Variety,
The bigger your career gets, the more you struggle with the idea that a lot of people see you the same way they see an iPhone or a Starbucks. They’ve been inundated with your name in the media, and you become a brand. That’s inevitable for me, but I do think that it’s really necessary to feel like I can still communicate with people. And as a songwriter, it’s really important to still feel human and process things in a human way. The through-line of all that is humanity, and reaching out and talking to people and having them see things that aren’t cute.
Taylor Swift doesn’t have any tattoos
Though we’ve seen her with the number 13 displayed on her body on more than one occasion, and the cover art for her 2019 single, “You Need To Calm Down” shows her with a massive back tattoo comprised of black butterflies, all of that ink is just temporary.
“People are always asking, ‘Would you get a tattoo?’ And I just . . . I don’t think I could ever commit,” she told Taste of Country in 2012. “I don’t think I could ever commit to something permanent…. I couldn’t. If I was going to get something, it would be a 13, but I just… I don’t want to get a tattoo.”
Obviously, Swift might change her mind in the future, but we’re convinced that if she ever does get any ink, we might never know about it.
