Doja Cat Was ‘Yanked’ Out of the Bathroom While Peeing When She Won a Grammy Award for ‘Kiss Me More’
Grammy-winning rapper Doja Cat is no stranger to funny moments, having created several on her own. But at the 2022 Grammy Awards, she created a viral moment by accident: she was on her way back from the bathroom when she won her first-ever Grammy Award, and almost missed it because of her small bladder.

Doja Cat burst onto the scene in 2020 with her No. 1 hit single “Say So.” She was nominated for several awards at the 2021 Grammy Awards, but she didn’t take home her first golden gramophone until the 2022 ceremony.
Doja Cat and SZA won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their smash song “Kiss Me More.” It was both Doja and SZA’s first Grammy, and was an overwhelming moment for both of them.
Doja Cat was in the bathroom when she and SZA won
When they were announced as the winners, SZA walked slowly up to the stage while using crutches, as she’d hurt herself falling out of bed the day before the ceremony. Doja, meanwhile, is seen running from the back of the room to the stage. Right before their category was announced, Doja took a bathroom break, which resulted in her nearly missing her big moment.
“Listen, I have never taken such a fast piss in my whole life,” Doja started her speech, out of breath from running. She went on to thank her loved ones and her team, before struggling to find the words to continue. “Damn,” she said tearily. “I like to downplay s**t, but this is a big deal. Thank you, everybody!”
Doja Cat drank too much champagne
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight after her win, Doja recounted just what happened when she had to rush back to the stage to accept her award.
“I had so much champagne,” she admitted. “There were so many performances that were amazing and you have to toast like, ‘You go, you’ and you’re performing — whatever, I was drinking a lot and obviously that makes your metabolism go and then I held it for so long, and then the one moment that I went to go, it was my time.”
A nameless woman pulled her out of the bathroom
Doja went on to describe just what happened when she was announced as the winner and she was nowhere to be seen in the audience.
“A woman ran into the bathroom — God, I don’t remember her name — but she grabbed me by my wrist, yanked me out, and I’ve never been pulled so strongly in my life. It was like the end of the world it felt like, but she pulled me and I ran for my life. It was beautiful.”
When she finally made it to the stage, Doja was seen tossing something aside, which she revealed was her vape. “I got to the stage, I threw my vape, and I got on there and did my thing,” she said humbly. “But yeah, no, I was definitely in the middle of a big piss.”
Looking back on the moment, Doja just wanted to thank the woman who helped her make it on stage in time. “I wish I knew her name she deserves credit but I can’t give that to her because I don’t have her name.”
