Dolly Parton Knows Which ‘Friends’ Character She’d Marry, but She Wants to Take Him to the Doctor First
Dolly Parton has never been afraid to share her opinion. Throughout her career, the musician has delighted fans with her perspective on a wide range of subjects. Once, she even revealed to Jennifer Aniston which Friends character she’d want to end up with. Here’s the surprising reasoning behind her choice and why she thinks she’d have to take him to the doctor.
Dolly Parton and Jennifer Aniston became friends while filming a movie
Parton became friends with Aniston while working on the Netflix film Dumplin’. Though Parton didn’t appear in the movie, she provided the soundtrack and teamed up with Aniston for promotion. Aniston and lead Danielle Macdonald also performed Parton’s new song “Push and Pull” for the soundtrack.
“[I was so nervous] but I sang through it and then got my voice. I literally couldn’t have a squeak come out, and then when we finished, I remembered, I just burst into tears,” Aniston told Entertainment Tonight.
Though the process of recording a song was nerve-wracking, Aniston said Parton’s presence made it easier.
“I had Dolly and Linda Perry there, who were just patient and wonderful,” she said.
The country star ranked ‘Friends’ characters
In an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Parton was asked to determine which male Friends character she would marry, have passionate sex with, or embark on a relationship-less cruise with for the rest of their lives. She quickly ruled out Chandler because he was with Monica and Ross because Parton wouldn’t want to hurt Aniston.
“Joey, he’s the only one who left the show single, so I think I would go with him,” Parton explained. “Because he had Monica, he had you [Aniston], and Joey probably had clap and syphilis.”
She was quick to add that she’d take him to the doctor before marrying him. Parton never put each man in the outlined categories, but she did add that she would “take Ross to Dollywood.”
“Does ‘take him to Dollywood’ mean something else?” Corden asked.
Dolly Parton’s husband has a crush on Jennifer Aniston
In a separate interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Parton revealed that her husband, Carl Dean, was thrilled when she began working with Aniston.
“I love her to death,” Parton said. “My husband is crazy about her, and he was more excited that I was going to do a movie with her than he was that I got the chance to write all this music. You see, I think he fantasizes, like a threesome.”
She assured Fallon that she was joking but later told E! that her husband found her comments amusing.
“My husband, he thought it was a hoot,” Parton said. “And he said, ‘Well, maybe I couldn’t do a threesome, but I think, if it is Jennifer, I could do, like, a two and a half.’”
“I could not believe it,” Aniston added. “I basically fell over, and I just was like, the only person in the world who could get away with saying that is Dolly Parton.”
