Dolly Parton Shares Her Favorite Traditional Valentine’s Day Gift
Dolly Parton is a singer, songwriter, actor, and author. The Queen of Country has been in the business for more than five decades and has been married to her husband, Carl Dean, for just as long. The couple must be doing something right given that they are still enjoying a long-lasting marriage today So what’s their secret? Well, it could have to do with the surprising places they like to go on date night.
Here’s more on that, plus which traditional gift Parton would like to receive on Valentine’s Day.
Where Parton and her husband go on date night
Parton and Dean met outside a laundromat in 1964. He previously told Entertainment Tonight: “My first thought was ‘I’m gonna marry that girl. My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin.’ And that was the day my life began.”
The “Jolene” artist recalled where Dean took her to eat on their first date saying: “He wanted to take me out to dinner. He pulled up to the drive-in window and got our food at McDonald’s.”
During an interview on SiriusXM with host Andy Cohen a few years back, Parton revealed that she and her hubby like to go to another fast-food spot on date night as well and that’s Taco Bell.
“I love their tacos. They also have little pizzas that I love,” Parton said (per Taste of Country). “Carl and I have a little camper, a little RV, and we’re always driving through fast food restaurants to get our stuff. That’s one of the things we do.”
Parton picks her favorite traditional Valentine’s Day gift
In 2021, Parton participated in a Q&A and shared with fans which traditional Valentine’s Day gift she would rather have: A box of chocolates or fresh-cut flowers?
Parton didn’t miss a beat and stated: “I’d rather have chocolate-covered flowers. And that’s the truth. Edibles!”
Parton also shared that she would never want to be a matchmaker because: “If it don’t work out, no matter what happened, it’s gonna always be your fault.” She added: “You’re gonna lose your friends doing that. So I just let love find itself whenever it does.”
Parton’s top love songs for your playlist
Love is in the air on Valentine’s Day so if you’re looking for some songs to add to your playlist for you and your sweetie Parton has a few we’d recommend.
“It’s All Wrong, but It’s All Right” should be added. It was released in 1978 as the second single from Parton’s Here You Come Again album. It became her seventh No. 1 country single as a solo artist. The singer’s 1974 tune “Love Is Like a Butterfly” is another song that should make your playlist. It was released in 1974 as the first single off her album with the same name. “Islands In the Stream” is a touching love song as well. It’s also a duet with her dear friend the late Kenny Rogers. And of course, no Parton love song playlist would be complete without her megahit “I Will Always Love You.”
