Dolly Parton’s Wigs Have a Hidden Compartment for Her Microphone Pack, According to Talk Show Host

One thing you might be surprised to learn is that the country music celebrity sometimes hides her microphone battery pack inside her wig, according to talk show host Graham Norton. Dolly Parton revealed what her real hair looks like without a wig
Parton tells The Wall Street Journal her real hair is the same color as her wigs, but it’s slightly longer. “I keep my own hair the same color and a little longer than shoulder length, just to the top of my boob….” Says Parton. “That way I can just pull it up with a little scrunchie. I was born blond and couldn’t wait to get it blonder. I started buying peroxide as soon as I could afford it! I just am a blonde. That’s just my nature. It’s me.”
Back in 2018, Parton posted an old photo of herself on Instagram showing her real hair. Her real hair isn’t as big, but it’s styled with a bit of a poof at the top. Parton likes big hair, so she was likely trying to achieve that look in this picture. During an interview with Elle, Parton says she likes to add a bit of volume to her hair when she’s not wearing a wig.
“I don’t always wear them in my daily life, but I always still poof up my hair,” says Parton. “I still like to have that flashy hair. When I’m around home, I wear my little scrunchies, but I always put on some makeup and fix my own hair as cute as I can fix it. Wigs are just so handy.”

Parton reportedly has a secret inside her wig. During an interview with Ireland-based Listowel Writer’s Week, talk show host Graham Norton revealed his favorite guest. He said his favorite guest is Dolly Parton. He says Parton keeps her microphone battery pack in an unusual place. According to Norton, Parton has a compartment inside her wigs that hides her microphone pack. He says she does this so she can show off her small waist.
Most entertainers keep their microphone packs secured around their waist, but Parton prefers not to do this. “Dolly Parton is so tiny, and so proud of her tiny waist, that she has a little pocket built into all her wigs for her microphone pack, so that her waist can stay as tiny as possible,” said Norton (via HuffPost). “She must have microwaved bits of her brain, but that is more important.”
Why Dolly Parton wears wigs
Parton says she loves wearing wigs because they’re convenient. “I’m so busy, and I have so many choices,” she continues. “I never have a bad hair day, and that’s a good thing.”
In her book Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, the country singer says she couldn’t get her real hair to look the way she wanted, so she turned to wigs.
“I always wore my hair all teased up,” she wrote. “Whenever that style started, I was the first to get my hair all poofy. Then as soon as I could buy those hairpieces and wigs, I wanted them. For one thing, they were so handy. Plus, my hair would never do exactly what I wanted it to do. So, the wigs became kind of my trademark.”
