‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’: Deon Derrico Shares Update on Karen’s Pregnancy
Karen Derrico is expecting again. The star of TLC’s Doubling Down With the Derricos revealed in the show’s March 1 episode that she was pregnant with baby No. 15. Recently, her husband Deon Derrico shared an update on how things are going with the expectant mother.
Karen Derrico reveals she’s expecting again on ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’
Karen and Deon already have 14 children, including two sets of twins, triplets, quintuplets, and two singletons. Now, Karen is expecting her 15th baby. She broke the news to her husband in a video chat that took place while he was at the hospital with his mother, GG, who’d just had heart surgery.
“We’re expecting again,” she said.
“Girl, shut up,” Deon replied.
Karen is excited to welcome another baby – or babies – to the family. But given her history of miscarriage, she has some anxiety as well.
“I’m going to continue to trust God that this is going to be OK,” she said. “But it’s just eating me up. I can hardly sleep at night. I’m just extremely stressed out. I just think I really am dealing with PTSD.”
Deon Derrico updates his followers on Karen’s pregnancy
On Doubling Down With the Derricos, Karen revealed that she is due in June 2022. Recently, one of the family’s followers asked Deon how her pregnancy is progressing.
“So far so good,” he replied on Instagram. “We just have to keep her calm.”
So far, Karen hasn’t shared any other details about her pregnancy, such as the baby’s gender or whether she is expecting multiples. On the show, she’s doing her best to keep the news that she’s expecting again quiet. Though her husband, children, and mother-in-law GG know, she still hasn’t told her own mother.
“My mom has never been happy with me being pregnant,” she said in the show’s March 8 episode. “It’s always been an issue. So I just think she’s going to be like, ‘Another baby, Karen?’ and ‘Oh, you’re body’ and all that other stuff that I ain’t trying to hear.”
Karen experienced a miscarriage on the last season of ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’
Karen also learned she was pregnant in Doubling Down With the Derricos Season 2, which aired in 2021. But sadly, that pregnancy ended in miscarriage.
“Each time we get pregnant, it’s like our love goes to that child,” Deon said at the time. “Our excitement is there for this child. And we have to grieve.”
Previously, Karen has said that she was glad to be able to share her story of miscarriage and infant loss with others who may have had similar experiences. In 2017, Karen gave birth to triplets, but one of the babies, a boy named Carter, died shortly after birth.
“I thank God that I’m able to relate to so many of our supporters out there on all levels with that, losing a child, having miscarriages, having a baby pass away after birth,” she told People ahead of Doublings Down With the Derricos’ Season 2 premiere. “I mean, those are things we don’t like to talk about, but it feels good that you can come into my circle and feel safe talking about it, and we can relate.”
