She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2014. While she received treatment, the cancer recently returned. But she waited to tell her son about her health problems.
“She’s been dealing with this and bottling this up herself over the last several months,” Deon told his wife.
The news that GG had some serious health problems led Karen and Deon to put their plans to move to South Carolina on hold.
Staying in Las Vegas is “going to be easier and help all of us sleep better at night,” Karen said. “It’s a no-brainer.”
In the April 26 episode of Doubling Down With the Derricos, GG got more bad news from her doctor, who told her that the baseball-sized mass on her lung was not operable. But he did say there were other treatment options they could pursue.
GG shares update on her cancer treatment with fans

“I am in therapy, I’m receiving immunotherapy,” she said. “Thanks be to God for his continuous grace and thanks be to God for your continuous prayers. I’m doing well. The therapy is working. We’re getting shrinkage.”
GG went on to say that she was feeling optimistic about the future.
“I’m coming through. I’m going to pull through this,” she said.
She also made sure to acknowledge the many messages of support she’d received. The words from fans and followers were deeply meaningful to her, she said.
“To say thank you is putting it mildly,” she said. “But thank you is what I want to say.”
“I am forever grateful,” she added.

Fans can check in with GG and the rest of the Derrico family in the Doubling Down With the Derricos Season 3 finale, which airs May 10. The episode will feature a “special celebration honoring GG,” Deon said on Instagram. He also said that fans should check out his social media after the episode aired for more updates.
“We’re going to do another live next week immediately following the conclusion of that episode,” he added. “It’s going to be very special.”
