‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’: Karen Derrico Reveals She Had 7 Miscarriages
Karen and Deon Derrico are the stars of TLC’s Doubling Down With the Derricos, and they’re known for their unusually large family. The couple has 14 children, and they’re open to growing their family even more. But recently, Karen opened up about how she’s had seven miscarriages in the past.
Is the ‘Doubling Down with the Derricos’ star pregnant again?
Is Karen Derrico currently pregnant? The Doubling Down With the Derricos star revealed she was expecting baby No. 15 on the show. At the beginning of March 2022, Deon Derrico gave an update on his wife’s pregnancy, too. A follower on Instagram asked how Karen’s pregnancy was coming along, and Deon answered, “So far, so good. We just have to keep her calm.”
Deon’s mother, GG, didn’t have the best response to Karen’s pregnancy. “Are you kidding me? Not again,” GG admitted to the cameras. Deon then said that he wasn’t trying to “burden” his mother with the news, and that another addition to the family should be seen as a “blessing.”
Unfortunately, Karen experienced a miscarriage during the last season of the show. And Distractify reports her pregnancy with baby No. 15 also wasn’t viable. During season 3 episode 6, Karen learned she had another miscarriage. This means she’s not currently pregnant.
Karen Derrico revealed she had 7 miscarriages in total
Following Karen Derrico’s most recent miscarriage, she talks to a therapist about her family and most recent miscarriage. People posted a clip from the Doubling Down With the Derricos therapy session that shows Karen discussing how she’s had seven miscarriages.
“I have 14 children,” Karen tells the therapist. “I recently miscarried, and it’s my third consecutive one. It’s my seventh total, but third recent.”
Karen then asks the therapist if she has any children of her own — and she does. The therapist reveals she’s a grandmother, so she can connect with Karen about motherhood. But she can’t connect personally with Karen regarding miscarriages. Karen asks the therapist if she’s had a miscarriage, and the therapist says she hasn’t.
Recently, Deon spoke to Gulf News about the miscarriages the couple’s gone through. “We were met with some challenges with two miscarriages, and then we had our baby girl, our Darian, and then we had two more miscarriages,” he said. “And then we had our son, and that’s when the multiples started coming in, and that’s the part that we were like, not prepared for at all.”
How many kids do Deon and Karen Derrico want?
With 14 children already, how many kids do the Derricos want? Deon Derrico once told his mother he wanted 100 kids, so it seems they’re ready to take on more family members at any time. But Deon’s mother thinks otherwise.
“I guess I think about Karen and her little body giving birth, giving birth, giving birth,” GG said during a Doubling Down With the Derricos episode. “How much more can that little body take? When I think about her possibly having some kind of problem with pregnancy, it infuriates me.”
With that said, Karen and Deon will certainly take some time after Karen’s most recent miscarriage. “Each time we get pregnant, it’s like our love goes to that child,” Deon said. “Our excitement is there for this child. And we have to grieve.”
“I thank God that I’m able to relate to so many of our supporters out there on all levels with that, losing a child, having miscarriages, having a baby pass away after birth,” Karen told People before the season 2 premiere. “I mean, those are things we don’t like to talk about, but it feels good that you can come into my circle and feel safe talking about it, and we can relate.”
