RuPaul created ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ spinoffs like ‘Drag Race UK’ and ‘Canada’s Drag Race’

RuPaul’s Drag Race is an award-winning reality competition series, kickstarting the careers of several contestants. It became so popular, in fact, that RuPaul created a few spinoffs of the series, including RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked and RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race.

There are also international versions of RuPaul’s Drag Race, specifically for contestants overseas. That includes RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Additionally, released in 2020, Canada’s Drag Race premiered its first season and crowned its first winner, Priyanka.

There are a few other international versions of this series, including Drag Race Thailand and Drag Race Holland, each crowning drag performers with plenty of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. One of the most recently released seasons of international Drag Race, though, was Drag Race UK season 2.

A third season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ is on the way

There are some differences between the UK and American versions of this reality series, including the prize for the winner. However, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is a favorite among many fans in the United States, as well as overseas.

Fans haven’t seen the last of this spinoff. On Nov. 2, 2020, RuPaul posted the open casting call on social media, confirming with fans that the third season of Drag Race UK is in the works. There’s no word regarding when season 3 would premiere and how they are filming despite coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions.

‘Drag Race UK’ season 2 recently crowned ‘America’s Next Drag Superstar’

A few months following the premiere of Drag Race UK, the second season premiered on BBC iPlayer, introducing the world to more charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. These queens competed for the crown, even though they paused due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

After weeks of competition, Ellie Diamond, Lawrence Chaney, Tayce, and Bimini Bon Boulash landed at the top. The winner was crowned and fans everywhere commended the contestants for their message of perseverance.

“I think it’s great that those conversations are being seen by a wider audience,” Bimini Bon Boulash said during an interview with The Guardian. “But what people have to remember is that drag was always a protest. It was always a political statement. It was about taking away those norms about gender and society, and parodying them.”

More information regarding Drag Race UK season 3 will presumably be announced in the coming months. Episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 premiere on a weekly basis on VH1.
