‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Says Reboot Is In the Works
Duck Dynasty might be returning to TV. Seven years after it wrapped up its 11-season run on A&E, the family behind the popular reality series is eying a revival, star Willie Robertson says.
‘Duck Dynasty’ star Willie Robertson says show is ‘getting back in production’
Robertson was recently a guest on Tucker Carlson’s YouTube show. He told the former Fox News host that his family was “getting back into production” on their reality show.
“It’s kind of like the next generation of Duck Dynasty,” he said. “My kids are older. Since 2017 [to] 2024, a lot’s happened. The cast has grown up.”
Robertson, who is the CEO of Duck Commander, said A&E had expressed interest in an updated version of the show.
“They said, ‘Hey, are you guys interested in kinda redoing the show?’ And it felt like the time was right… met with the family, prayed about it, and said, ‘Yeah, I think so.’ The kids were excited,” he shared.
Willie Robertson says ‘Duck Dynasty’ viewers appreciated that the show wasn’t ‘a train wreck’

More than a decade after Duck Dynasty premiered, Robertson said he is still touched by the show’s surprising legacy.
“Man, when you talk to people, and they tell you how much that meant to them… I can’t tell you how many people who are like, ‘It’s what my dad and I watched together’ or ‘My mom passed away and it was the only thing we could laugh at together,’” he said.
As for why a show about a Louisiana family that ran a duck call business resonated so strongly with viewers, Robertson had a theory. He said it was due to Duck Dynasty‘s embrace of traditional values.
“Just watching our family be positive,” he said. “And the roles were correct. It wasn’t a lot of you know, just darkness and stuff that people watch. It wasn’t just a train wreck.”
“It’s really inspiring. It’s good to make something, especially when it came out it was a bright light amongst some dark stuff out there, some dark TV,” he added.
While Robertson attributed the Duck Dynasty’s success to its uplifting message, one of its stars had a tendency to stir up controversy. In 2013, Robertson’s father Phil Robertson called homosexuality sinful, comparing it to bestiality, in an interview with GQ. He also said that Black people were “happy” in the pre-Civil Rights era and that he “never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any Black person.” The elder Robertson was also criticized when a video (via CBS News) surfaced of him urging men to marry girls “when they’re about 15 or 16.”
