Duggar Critics Noticed Josie Duggar Wore a Forbidden Clothing Item
The Duggars abide by strict dress code rules when growing up in Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s house. And the same goes for Josie Duggar, the youngest of 19 children. Recently, Josie was spotted wearing an item of clothing that’s strictly forbidden by her mom and dad. Here’s what it was.
The Duggar kids went sledding at the huge family home
The Duggars are all about getting outside and enjoying all seasons. While Arkansas doesn’t see as much snow as the north, they certainly take advantage of a snow day when it happens. And Jim Bob and Michelle posted footage of the kids sledding by their huge home to the Duggar Family Instagram.
“It’s a snow day here in Arkansas!!” the Instagram post was captioned. “The kids are taking turns braving the cold to sled down the hill, and warming up inside! #winterwonderland.”
The child seen in the video posted to Instagram was covered head to toe in snow gear, and it had plenty of fans talking.
“I so want to do this!!!” one fan commented. “We never have snow.”
Another asked about the kids’ attire. “I hope the girls get snow pants too,” they wrote.
Josie Duggar wore a clothing item in the snow that’s typically forbidden
It looks like Josie Duggar took part in the snowy fun, too. The Duggar Family Instagram posted footage of her to their Instagram Stories while she was also sledding outside. And Reddit users noticed Josie was allowed to wear pants for the event even though pants are typically forbidden.
As for why the young girls don’t wear pants, they aim to avoid “defrauding” those around them. “My kids are taught the definition of defrauding as stirring up desires that cannot be righteously fulfilled,” Michelle once explained. “We don’t believe in defrauding others by the way we dress.” For this reason, the women in the family are taught long skirts are best, and they also don’t show off their shoulders or neckline.
As for Josie’s attire, family critics took note of the news.
“It’s so sad that an 11-year-old wearing snow pants is something worthy of note but this is the Duggars we’re talking about who say NIKE when someone is dressed normally,” a Reddit user wrote.
Is Josie Duggar allowed to dress more modern moving forward?
So, are the snow pants any indication that Josie will be allowed to dress more modern as she enters her teen years? Likely not. Michelle and Jim Bob have reasons for their dress code. Until the young girls move out of the house, they’ll likely be in long skirts until young adulthood.
The married Duggar women tend to stray from the dress code, though. Jinger Duggar loves getting stylish, and she’s made it known she’s all about wearing pants. She even had a conversation with Michelle about her decision to forego the long skirts.
“We had conversations before I started wearing pants,” Jinger explained. “I just shared my heart with them about where I saw the Lord leading me. I was really grateful for their response.”
We’ll have to wait and see if Josie rebels against the dress code. For now, it looks like pants are only for the snow.
