‘Dune’: Oscar Isaac Joked That He Had to Attach Josh Brolin’s Pubic Hair Onto His Face
Dune is one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. It’s a sci-fi epic that commonly divides audiences. However, many audiences seem to agree that Oscar Isaac’s performance is spectacular. The film is getting a plethora of awards attention. Nevertheless, Isaac recently joked that he had to attach Josh Brolin’s pubic hair onto his face for Dune.
What is ‘Dune’ about?
Dune is another feature adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic novel by the same name. Co-writer/director Denis Villeneuve tackles the epic that follows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet). He’s the heir to a noble family that must head to a desert planet called Arrakis. They must defend the spice melange, which people covet more than anything else in the galaxy.
Paul’s father, Duke Leto (Isaac), and mother, Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) do all that they can to prepare Paul for what is ahead. However, various threats are willing to do whatever it takes to get their hands on the most vital element in the galaxy.
Oscar Isaac joked about attaching Josh Brolin’s pubic hair to his face
The Los Angeles Times hosted an interview panel with Isaac, Andrew Garfield, Javier Bardem, Jared Leto, and Peter Dinklage. They talked about all of their award contenders and some of their common difficulties. One of these hardships includes the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that forced productions across the industry to halt.
Isaac was working on both Dune and The Card Counter at the time. He was clean-shaven for The Card Counter but had a full beard for Dune.
“It was actually about the same amount of time filming [the two] because The Card Counter was 20 days,” Isaac said. “It’s a tiny little movie where I’m in every scene, and yet it was about the same amount of time that I shot on Dune.”
Isaac continued: “But with something like Card Counter, you have a couple of takes. You have that location for half a day. You have to get it. Whereas with Dune, it’s ‘Let’s get that helicopter back tomorrow and do that thing again!’”
“It was a real headache,” Isaac said, “because when the pandemic happened, we had to shut down four days before finishing on the Schrader film. This is a heartbreaker, obviously. We didn’t know when we were going to get back.”
Isaac added: “I knew that I had to do the Dune reshoots at some point, and I’m clean-shaven in Card Counter. I was begging Paul if we can just wait, because I had on my COVID beard anyway [for Dune]. In the reshoots, you can see it in some of the scenes, they had to attach some of Josh Brolin‘s pubic hair onto my face.”
The Internet swooned for Oscar Isaac with a beard
Dune was on everybody’s lips around its release date in theaters and on HBO Max. However, conversations are starting to once again pick up leading into awards season. Isaac’s performance is one of the main drivers of the general conversation, particularly when it comes to discussions around his beard.
Social media is filled with images of Isaac’s beard. Some profiles posed the question of whether people prefer Isaac with or without the beard. It turns out that audiences are swooning for Isaac with the full beard.
