‘Dune’: Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya Adorably Banter About How They Became Best Friends on the Set
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya have shown the world best friend goals over the course of the Dune press tour. They have such wonderful chemistry that translates very well in interviews. Chalamet and Zendaya’s infectious energy only seems to grow as they play radio and talk show games together. They recently exchanged an adorable banter as to how they became best friends so quickly.
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya’s ‘Dune’ dominated film conversations
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune has been a part of the film conversation for quite some time. The movie suffered from coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic-related delays. However, that didn’t stop Dune from being at everybody’s lips. The sci-fi epic has dominated social media and film discussions, especially for its spectacular visuals and impressive cast list. Villeneuve doubled down that Dune is an IMAX experience to persuade many audiences to go to the movie theater instead of watching it on HBO Max.
The marketing included character posters for each of the major roles. Chalamet’s Paul Atreidas and Zendaya’s Chani were both highly marketed in the press assets. However, some folks were a bit disappointed that Zendaya has a surprisingly small amount of screentime. However, Dune is only intended to cover roughly the first half of the novel. There’s more story to come.
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya became great friends on the set
Glamour Magazine interviewed Chalamet and Zendaya about their friendship and mental health. They once again infused the interview with their infectious energy. Chalamet and Zendaya talked about how they have grown close while filming Dune and what that meant for them on set. They finally opened up about exactly how their friendship came to be.
“The first moment, I saw Zendaya when she got to Jordan,” Chalamet said. “And without being ageist there was no one within 15 years of us. We were in a part of the world that I’d never been in before and we just had so much fun and she brought a great energy. I think we can tap into a similar chaos and that’s important.”
“You understood my jokes,” Zendaya said. “And you got my references and that’s a very important thing so I was like, ‘We are good!’”
“Have you ever watched Dragon’s Tales?” Chalamet asked the interviewer. “Yeah, that’s us.”
‘Dune 2’ is officially happening
Dune fans were a bit nervous when Warner Bros. didn’t instantly green light the sequel. They wanted to wait and see how the movie performed before moving forward. However, Villeneuve assured fans that the movie was as good as being in development. Fans still wanted to be certain with an official distributor announcement.
Dune 2 has officially been given the green light. It’s currently aiming to hit theaters on October 22, 2023. That isn’t quite as far in the future as some were anticipating. Audiences can expect to see a lot more of Chalamet and Zendaya in the sequel, which will dig deeper into their characters’ connection.
