Anna Delvey is the most controversial contestant to join Dancing With the Stars Season 33. Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, was arrested in 2017 and convicted of grand larceny and theft in 2019 after pretending to be a German heiress. She entered the reality TV scene with the ABC dancing series. Unfortunately, Delvey and her professional dancing partner, Ezra Sosa, allegedly have “tension” between them.

Anna Delvey and her partner, Ezra Sosa, allegedly have ‘tension’ on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Season 33

Dancing With the Stars fans were shocked to see Anna Delvey on the cast list for season 33. The con artist received a 12-year prison sentence in 2019, though she left prison on good behavior in 2021. She lives in New York City on house arrest. Delvey had to request permission from ICE to travel out of state for the reality series.

Delvey has Ezra Sosa as a dance partner. Unfortunately, Sosa has allegedly grown “frustrated” with Delvey.

“There is a lot of tension between Anna and Ezra, and it is growing by the day,” an insider told The U.S. Sun. “Certainly, the cause of much of it is that Anna seems less focused on collaboration and more focused on herself. She can be negative too about what she can achieve with dances, even though she keeps telling everyone she is a hard worker. Ezra has been frustrated because he really wants to make an impact as the new kid on the block at DWTS.”

The source added that Delvey is treating DWTS as a “stepping stone” for bigger opportunities in the future. “Production members say that her attitude makes it feel like she acts as if the show is beneath her,” the insider continued.

The source noted that Sosa is “doing his best” to push his partner to achieve the best dances possible.

Ezra Sosa defended Anna Delvey on Instagram following the Dancing With the Stars Season 33 premiere. Sosa said he received an outpouring of “positivity” from fans. Sadly, Delvey didn’t receive the same positivity back.

“She was reading the comments, and we couldn’t find her,” Sosa said on Instagram through tears. They finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I’ve never seen her like that, and it broke my heart. As her partner, I want to just give her the best experience …. And knowing that that’s not the case, it really did break my heart.”

Sosa added that he knows Delvey has controversy surrounding her and doesn’t aim to justify her past wrongdoings. But he continues to fall “in love” with her “every single day in rehearsal.”

“No one deserves the amount of hate that she’s getting right now,” he added.

Derek Hough ‘doesn’t quite understand’ Anna Delvey

Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough rejoined Dancing With the Stars as judges for season 33. Hough told E! News that he still “doesn’t quite understand” Anna Delvey.

“She fuels the curiosity because she’s still a mystery,” he said after the premiere. “If I’m honest with you, even after last night, I was like, ‘I don’t quite understand you yet, but I want to know more.’”

Hough noted that he loves the show for bringing that “curiosity” back. “There’s something in the show for everybody,” he added.

Dancing With the Stars Season 33 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
