Cheryl Burke’s security system caught people going through her trash

On Jan. 31, 2022, Burke shared a video of two people going through a dumpster outside her home. “People in LA, please be cautious and careful,” she captioned the post.

“I found people going through my bins and searching around my house over the weekend at 3:45 in the morning. Unsure what exactly they were looking for, but knowing these people were accessing my property in the middle of the night is of course concerning.”

It’s unclear what the dumpster divers were looking for, but they came equipped with head flashlights. Burke said she’s “thankful” to have a home security system in place to catch suspicious behavior like this.

“My cameras were able to auto alert the security team,” she added in her caption. Burke hopes by sharing the video her followers will continue to err on the side of caution. “Make sure your home has protective measures to keep you safe. Please share so this message gets out and we all remember to keep safe.”

‘DWTS’ pro is open about everything from addiction to body dysmorphia

Burke’s recent experience isn’t the first time she has been open with her fans about her personal life. The Dancing with the Stars pro has been outspoken about her addiction to alcohol, plus her recovery and sobriety.

Burke co-hosts the Pretty Messed Up podcast with DWTS Season 29 competitor AJ McLean and his mentor Rene Elizondo. From the way alcohol used to impact her work on Dancing with the Stars to the conscious effort Burke makes every day to maintain her sobriety, she doesn’t hold back when sharing her experience on the podcast.

More recently, Burke has been open about her body dysmorphia, a mental health disorder in which an individual focuses on perceived defects or flaws regarding their body. “I have body dysmorphia,” Burke explained to her DWTS colleague Witney Carson on the Pretty Messed Up podcast. “Just being in this business and being in the competition world.”

Burke is also open about this aspect of her personal life on social media. “I think it’s important that I talk about my experience so I can bring awareness to everybody who may struggle with body image issues,” Burke shared in a video post to Instagram on Jan. 5, 2021. “It can be easy to get sucked into a trap of body dysmorphia,” she captioned the post.

‘DWTS’ Season 31 is an unknown right now for Cheryl Burke
