With the new cast of Dancing With the Stars revealed for season 30, all eyes are on Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Brian Austin Green and his lady love, pro dancer Sharna Burgess. Fans of the reality show are hoping the lovebirds are paired for the competition so viewers can see them in action as a team.

While Green and Burgess often talked of his joining as a contestant, the actor revealed a romantic reason for taking to the dance floor.

Brian Austin Green called ‘DWTS’ a ‘unique opportunity’

Green and Burgess became an item after being introduced by a mutual friend. Posting PDA-filled pics on social media since January 2021, the couple clearly hit serious status and soon started discussing Green’s potential venture into the DWTS ballroom.

“When we first started dating, [and] we used to laugh about the fact that it would probably just never happen,” Green told Us Weekly. “It just wasn’t on our radar at all, either one of us. But [then] the offer came in for the season. And the more we just kind of talked about it in general, we realized together that this is a really unique opportunity.”

Though Green showed off some fancy footwork as David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210, his real intention for joining DWTS has more to do with Burgess than possibly winning the coveted Mirrorball trophy.

“I really look at this as a really cool way of understanding who she is professionally and [experiencing] something that she’s been passionate about and done her entire life,” he said of Burgess. “It’s really a cool way of getting to know her. It’s an amazing opportunity for that.”

Green praised Burgess for her support and expertise, which give him a leg up on what to expect in the competition.

“Sharna has been extremely kind and helpful and she’s been a huge cheerleader for me,” he remarked. “She’s really given me a lot of pointers and helped me understand just the work that is in store for me — what I’m going to have to commit to in doing this well.”

While many fans are hoping the two will be the first real-life couple to be paired on DWTS, Green noted both pros and cons to the possibility.

“If we were paired together, I think that would be an obvious advantage chemistry wise,” he told Access Hollywood. “I think it would be a huge disadvantage though in other ways because, there is a part of me that would really hate to disappoint her.”

Since Green is new to live television, he’s looking forward to getting the premiere under his belt to work out any jitters.

“I’m still nervous about the first show, of course, because it’s live,” Green said. “I haven’t had an opportunity to do much live work before, but I know once I get that out of my system and that’s done, then I’ll know what my biggest fears are and what I have to worry about. And then there won’t be any more surprises after that.”
