Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to Montecito, California back in 2020 after leaving the royal family to lead a freer life in the United States. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purchased a massive nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom mansion, and Meghan said they fell in love with it the moment they saw it.

Fast forward a couple of years, and a recent tribute to Meghan’s late dog has some people thinking Meghan and Harry might be undergoing renovations.

Meghan Markle’s recent tribute might have hinted at home renovations

2025 is shaping up to be a big year for the duchess. She recently launched her first Instagram account since meeting Harry; she previously had to close down her account due to joining the royal family. Meghan then announced her new Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, which premieres later this year.

Amid the joy was some sadness; Meghan lost her dog, Guy, whom she had adopted 10 years earlier. The tribute was emotional, and Meghan shared a series of photos and videos of her time spent with her pup. But some with eagle eyes spotted something else amid the photos: a picture of Guy that appeared to show home renovations in the background.

In one of Meghan’s photos, Guy is seen sitting in the backyard of Harry and Meghan’s Montecito mansion alongside their other dog, Pula, a black lab.

According to Express, a “green privacy screen” can be seen in the background of the image; these screens are often put up to block ongoing construction work. It remains unclear what type of work Harry and Meghan could be doing on their home, but they did move in nearly five years ago, so it’s possible they are just choosing to update a few things. Something else to note is that we don’t know when that photo of Guy was taken; it could have been from shortly after they moved in.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s home has dramatically increased in value

Harry and Meghan spent a pretty penny on their luxurious California estate. The Sussexes dropped more than $9 million for the home shortly after the covid pandemic struck, but since then, housing prices have soared.

It’s been rumored that Harry and Meghan’s home is now worth a whopping $27 million, though it could be a little more or less. Zillow, the popular home search tool, put the property at a value somewhere between $20 million and $36 million, meaning no matter what Harry and Meghan sell it for, it has more than doubled in value.

It’s possible that Zillow knows what kind of work Harry and Meghan have had done on their home (due to permits submitted to the town, for example), that could also have helped to increase the home’s value.
