Ed Sheeran Has a Pub on His Sprawling Property for an Excellent Reason
There are tons of stories about the weird things celebrities spend their millions on, from exotic animals to movie memorabilia. Ed Sheeran’s money went toward something a little different.
Why does Ed Sheeran have a private pub?
The popstar owns an estate in Suffolk in the English countryside, which includes several houses, a treehouse, and his own private pub.
“Yes, we still have the pub,” Sheeran told GQ UK, “And I know it’s f***ing weird to have a pub in your garden, but if my mates come round we can eat in the pub and then if they want to carry on I can just leave them there and go back to the main house. I like that separation. Especially as a father now. Also, look, it’s a lot nicer to eat without someone taking pictures of you.”
Sheeran is an extremely private star, going to great lengths to stay incognito when he goes out. Purchasing all that land in Suffolk and creating an area where he can live without the prying eyes of the public is part of that effort to try and have a normal life.

The music star wants to hang with friends while still being close to home
The pub is one of the most talked about elements of his extensive property holdings. In an interview with Zane Lowe, Sheeran said that he built the pub so that he and his friends could still enjoy nights out without getting mobbed by his fans.
It can be accessed through an underground tunnel that connects to the main house on the estate, where Sheeran lives with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two children.
“The problem with my house at the moment is, if I have a house party, it’s all in the house,” the singer explained. “And if I have kids, I still want to have mates around and have beers and stuff like that, so it’s good to have something that’s separate.”
Ed Sheeran’s thoughts on fatherhood
Sheeran recently revealed that his wife had given birth to a second daughter. Their first child, a daughter named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, was born in 2020. The couple has not yet announced the name of their second child.
The singer has always been open about his desire for children, saying, “I’m ready, let’s go — tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around.”
In a 2017 interview with Good Morning Britain highlighted by Teen Vogue, Sheeran shared more of his thoughts on how he wants to parent his children while also juggling his musical career.
“I don’t want to be touring when I have kids,” he explained. “I want to be like nipping out every now and then and being able to actually be a father so yeah, I think I would definitely love kids.”
He continued, “This is my idea of happiness; living in the countryside, having a multitude of children always around me and my wife by my side. Writing songs every day and then going to pick up my kids at school … I’m ready [to be a dad], but then it’s not me who have to carry a baby in the belly for nine months, so it’s not just up to me.”
From cutting down on touring to having his own private pub, it looks like Sheeran has figured out how to balance being a dad and a rockstar.
