Prior to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Ellen DeGeneres was seemingly one of the nicest and most respected people in Hollywood. Her long-running talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show always books a slew of wide-ranging celebrities, and she is also known for giving back to the less fortunate.

However, in recent months, the tides have changed drastically for DeGeneres. News first broke that she was refusing to pay her staff amid the pandemic. Then, she made a major gaffe on social media when she compared self-isolation in her Los Angeles mansion to being in prison. Now a slew of other stories about the host’s alleged meanness have come out.

In fact, one source is revealing that DeGeneres once called Steve Jobs to whine and complain about her iPhone.

The ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’ crew is furious with Ellen

Since DeGeneres has built her career on being kind to others, fans were shocked when they learned how she was allegedly treating her crew at a time when they are suffering most.

Like many day-time and night-time shows, DeGeneres is filming her talk show from the comfort of her own home. However, none of her regular crew were notified or giving the opportunity to pitch in and make any money.

DeGeneres claimed that she was building a safe set in her home because she loved and missed her crew. She said, “I love them, I miss them, the best thing I can do to support them is to keep the show on the air.”  However, crew members have come forward saying only four members were hired back and the rest of the show was packed out with non-unitized workers. Since DeGeneres has a net worth of $490 million according to Celebrity Net Worth, and she could really help her crew, this is more than a bit off-putting

Ellen DeGeneres has been called mean and rude

From former crew members to YouTuber Nikkie de Jager aka NikkieTutorials, many voices have come forth to criticized the comedian for her perceived rude and mean behavior.

“I’m holding their hands and walking them through individuals and large groups of people,” DeGeneres’ former bodyguard Tom Majercak told Fox News. “Ellen is the one person that I’ve been assigned to — and I’ve been assigned to quite a few celebrities — that has never taken the time to say hi to me. Ellen pretty much just gave me a side glance out of her eye and didn’t even say ‘hello,’ or ‘thank you for protecting my mother, my wife, and me.’ It was very cold and it was very sly and it was actually kind of demeaning in the way that she treats people other than those who are in her circle.”

Ellen DeGeneres once called Steve Jobs to complain about her iPhone

Some years ago, DeGeneres called the late Apple, Inc. CEO Steve Jobs when she’d lost her glasses and couldn’t read the font on her iPhone. “She stopped everything and made a call,” a former producer on The Ellen Show told The New York Post. “Next thing we know, we literally hear Steve Jobs pick up and say, ‘Hi, Ellen’ … Ellen told him the iPhone should have a bigger font. That’s her. It’s not that she’s some demon. She just lives in an incredibly privileged bubble and is out of touch with the real world.”
