Grey’s Anatomy already has two spinoffs following characters who moved or changed careers. Fans want another one, and Ellen Pompeo reacted to the idea fans are rooting for. She admitted she’d watch it.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ has 2 spinoffs

Grey’s Anatomy started back in 2005. Since then, the show has figured out ways to follow other characters.

Derek Shepherd’s (Patrick Dempsey) ex-wife Dr. Addison Montogmery (Kate Walsh), was the main character of Private Practice. She worked at Oceanside Wellness Center in LA with other doctors. Private Practice ended after six seasons in 2013.

Recently Grey’s Anatomy got another spinoff with Station 19. Dr. Ben Warren (Jason George) decides to leave the hospital for a fire station. The show follows his new career and the people he works with. The show started in 2018, and it’s still going strong. Sometimes it has crossover events with Grey’s Anatomy, so it affects the medical show.

Fans still believe there’s room for more shows. Pompeo shared her reaction to one of the spinoff ideas.

The medical show has so many characters that it’s possible they could get their show. Pompeo talked to Insider about Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) getting a spinoff.

“I’m always open to any idea. I know people love ‘Japril,'” Pompeo said. She shared her love for the fictional couple.

Sarah Drew and Jesse are both great to watch, but whatever Jesse wants and whatever Sarah wants, if they wanted to do it, then I would be so happy for the fans,” she said. “I get it. I’d watch it.”

Pompeo said she was grateful fans want the spinoff. But she also described Williams as “pretty busy.” If a show followed the characters, they would be in a totally new city.

The couple left to live in Boston in season 17 with their daughter. Jackson took a job helping marginalized people get medical care.

Williams has been filming movies since his departure. Drew played Cindy Turner in the Hulu show Cruel Summer and will be Sarah Brown in a show called Amber Brown.

April’s ending previously was with Matthew Taylor (Justin Bruening), and Drew wasn’t happy about it. She revealed that she wrote a letter to showrunner Krista Vernoff asking for it to be changed to April walking off to be an independent woman. Luckily for her, April was brought back, and she got a happy ending with Jackson instead, a character that had more history with her character.

It’s unclear if Drew or Williams actually want to go back to playing their characters. But it’s good to know Pompeo is a Japril fan too.
