Elon Musk Said He Never Dated Cameron Diaz Despite Persistent Rumors
Many know Elon Musk best for being the CEO of Tesla and one of the founders of SpaceX. But now, it’s his personal life that’s in the spotlight. Musk just brought a baby into the world with Claire Boucher, aka musician Grimes. The two have been together since 2018, and they have the most controversial name for their child we’ve ever heard of.
This is far from Musk’s first relationship that’s given the public pause. He’s been married three times, and two of those times was to actress Talulah Riley. While he’s also dated actress Amber Heard back in 2016, rumor has it that he was seeing Cameron Diaz in 2013. Musk denies the rumors, however. Here’s what he said.

Musk and Grimes have both raised eyebrows for their eccentric thinking — but they may be perfectly matched. They met when Musk was going to make a difficult-to-understand tech joke on Twitter, but he saw that Grimes already made it. This led him to direct messaging her about the joke — and the rest, it seems, is history.
Musk and Grimes don’t appear to have any plans for marriage, though they did seem to plan to have a baby. Grimes told Rolling Stone that she “really” loves Musk, and she wanted to make this “profound commitment.”
“It’s a pretty crazy sacrifice and only half of the population has to do it,” she said. “It was really profound to me when I decided I was going to do it, to actually go through the act of — like, y’know, unprotected sex. I’m just like, I have sacrificed my power in this moment.”
Their relationship hasn’t been all good, though. Reports note they’ve been on and off through their romance but are dedicated to staying friends.
Rumors swirled in 2013 that Musk was dating actress Cameron Diaz
Musk has had quite a public dating history. He married his first wife, Justine Wilson, in 2000, and they have five children together. Eight years later, they divorced — and this proved to be Musk’s longest relationship.
Six weeks after his divorce from Wilson, he was engaged to actress Talulah Riley. They married in 2010, divorced in 2012, and married again in 2013 before divorcing again in 2016. Somewhere between getting back together with Riley, rumors swirled that Musk and Diaz were getting romantic.
According to The Sun, Diaz bought a car from Tesla Motors, which is how she met Musk in 2013. Rumor has it that they kept in touch after this first meeting, and Musk traveled to Los Angeles regularly to visit her.
“Elon thinks Cameron is gorgeous,” a source claimed. “He personally sold her a Tesla earlier this year and they were flirting up a storm the whole time.”
Musk denied the rumors
So, were Diaz and Musk really a thing? It seems unlikely, as it didn’t take long for Musk to marry Riley in 2013 after their public split in 2012. And Musk denies any of the rumors that he had involvement with Diaz.
“I don’t know where people got that from,” Musk said during an interview in 2013 in regards to a budding romance with Diaz, according to CNBC. As for Diaz, it doesn’t look like she’s made any comments.
Musk certainly isn’t the first famous person linked to Diaz, either. She’s been seen with Justin Timberlake, Alex Rodriguez, and Adam Levine. Now, it looks like Diaz and musician Benji Madden are still going strong. Us Weekly reports they’ve been together since 2014 and wed in 2015. They like to keep their relationship private, too.
We know Musk loves love and hates being alone, so perhaps he’ll eventually follow suit and marry Grimes or the next woman he connects with. Either way, it looks like any future of Musk and Diaz being together is totally out of the question.
