Elon Musk’s name has come up more than once in the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial. Musk was on the list as a potential witness, thanks to his rumored affair and eventual relationship with Heard. Musk was never called to testify and remained mostly quiet during the legal proceedings. Now, though, as the jury deliberates, he is speaking out. His thoughts on the entire situation are surprisingly neutral.

Elon Musk and Amber Heard dated. When that relationship started is open for interpretation. While Heard has denied having an affair with Musk, Johnny Depp claimed his then-wife started an affair with Musk less than a month after they married in 2015. According to Newsweek, the couple insists they weren’t official until at least May 2016. The then-couple wasn’t spotted together in April 2017. They ended their romance in August 2017.

Musk’s relationship with Heard, shortly after her marriage ended, made him a prime candidate for the witness list. Musk’s name did appear on the witness list that Heard’s team submitted to the courts. Initially, it was thought that he would appear remotely, but as the trial progressed, it became clear that the world would not be hearing from him. The jury is now deliberating. Musk was not called to testify.

Elon Musk had something rather neutral to say about the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial

Elon Musk has been uncharacteristically quiet about the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial. So quiet, in fact, that the entrepreneur’s followers were starting to get a bit suspicious. Apparently, there is nothing to be wary about. Musk has finally weighed in on the trial, but he still isn’t taking sides.

In a Twitter reply, Elon Musk was measured in his words. He said that he hopes both Depp and Heard move on. Musk then went on to say that both are “incredible” people when they are at their best. He did not mention any details of the trial but didn’t seem to disagree with the original tweet’s takeaways.

When is a verdict expected in the case?

The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial has stretched on for weeks, with multiple witnesses taking the stand. Depp and Heard both testified during lengthy sessions, too. On Friday, the case was handed over to the jurors. By the time jurors entered deliberations, it was the afternoon. When they broke for the long weekend without a verdict, it wasn’t unexpected. So, when is a ruling actually expected?

The jurors can choose to deliberate for however long they need. They are also allowed to ask questions during the process. While it’s impossible to predict when a verdict will come in, several legal experts have weighed in. Most agree that the jury is likely to reach a verdict early this week. Depp allegedly hopes a win in the case will help restore his reputation in Hollywood, which he alleges, was destroyed following Heard’s abuse allegations.
