In a 2001 interview with ABC News, Michael Jackson said The Jackson 5 met many celebrities when he was young. Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Sammy Davis Jr. were all in The Jackson 5’s orbit. Michael said Elvis and Davis repeatedly told the members of The Jackson 5 not to do drugs. Michael never forgot their advice.
During an interview with USA Today, Jackie recalled his interactions with Elvis and his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. “I remember Elvis, he was the nicest guy,” Jackie said. “He was always bringing his daughter to our shows all the time, that’s how Michael first met her. [Elvis] would stand way in the back while his daughter would sit in the front.” Notably, Michael married Lisa Marie.
Elvis Presley recognized Jackie Jackson when his bodyguards did not
Jackie said Elvis helped him out of a pickle. “One time I was going on the elevator at the [former] MGM Grand Hotel [in Las Vegas] and I was going the back way because I had another performance to do,” Jackie said. “When Elvis would go somewhere, he had an army with him and so his security guys didn’t know who I was and they were about to throw me out of the elevator.”
The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll didn’t mind sharing an elevator with a member of The Jackson 5. “Elvis said, ‘Wait, hold on, that’s a Jackson right there, you don’t throw him out. Leave him here,'” Jackie recalled.

Jackie had a career outside of The Jackson 5. He released a pair of solo albums: Jackie Jackson and Be the One. The latter reached No. 84 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and remained on the chart for seven weeks. Two of his singles — “Stay” and “Cruisin'” — hit Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The former reached No. 39 and stayed on the chart for nine weeks. The latter hit No. 58 and remained on the chart for seven weeks.
In 1997, Jackie entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Jackson 5. He is forever immortalized in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside Elvis. Jackie and Elvis shared an elevator — and they’d later share the Hall.
