Emily Blunt Has an Unexpected Connection to 1 of Her ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Co-Stars
Whenever Emily Blunt’s name comes up nowadays, her husband John Krasinski’s is right alongside it. After all, the celebrity couple shared the screen in 2018 hit A Quiet Place. And they were set to co-star in the sequel before its release was pushed. But her husband isn’t the only star Blunt is connected to. In fact, she now boasts a close tie to another former co-star.
Emily Blunt became a star after her work in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’
Given how much Blunt has achieved, it is wild to remember that not so long ago she was a newcomer. In fact, 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada — in which Blunt plays the assistant to Meryl Streep’s fashion maven — was only her second movie role. For her work, Blunt earned critical praise as well as some awards consideration. And she has never looked back since.
In recent years, Blunt has tried her hand at just about every genre there is. She’s starred in the harrowing thriller Sicario, channeled Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins Returns, and fought aliens with Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow. But The Devil Wears Prada remains one of Blunt’s most enduring movies. It is fitting she has a personal connection to one of its her co-stars.
But the actor has an off-screen connection to 1 of her co-stars
Streep and star Anne Hathaway have the most screen time in The Devil Wears Prada. But it’s perhaps the movie’s standout supporting performances that have kept it so popular. Blunt’s is one, but another is Stanley Tucci’s turn as Streep’s long-suffering art director. The two actors are now related by marriage. Tucci married Blunt’s sister, Felicity, in 2012.
Blunt introduced her older sister, Felicity Blunt, to Tucci at her own 2010 wedding to Krasinski. And the couple has remained inseparable ever since. They have both a son and a daughter — born in 2015 and 2018, respectively — and reside in London. The Devil Wears Prada actors have not shared the screen again since that film’s release, however.
Stanley Tucci has reunited with other ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ stars
Although Blunt and Tucci have not appeared together on screen since The Devil Wears Prada, the latter has reunited with other co-stars from the movie. In fact, Tucci starred as Julia Child’s (Meryl Streep) supportive husband, Paul Child, in Julie & Julia. That role — like The Devil Wears Prada — even earned Streep an Academy Award nomination.
More recently, Tucci and Hathaway worked together on director Robert Zemeckis’ remake of The Witches. The movie received mixed-to-negative reviews. But seeing these two back together and chewing the scenery was a fun way to try and reimagine the original movie. Perhaps one day Blunt and Tucci can also find the right opportunity to reunite on an upcoming project.
